2012 Custom "Colours"

Hey All,

I am looking to get myself into a 4th gen. After tinkering with 1st gens for 6 years, I have had my fun. Getting older, and can afford a 4th gen so here we go...

I noticed on Ram's website that they have a lot of CASE IH colors, but also a Green color that looks just like John Deere Green but named "Hills Green". For the 4500/5500 cab n chassis trucks there is a seemingly similar color option but named "Green Angel". Has anyone had a chance to see this color in person? Is it identical to John Deere Green?

I'm Spec'ing out a 3500 SRW 3.42 / G56 ST Crew Cab but still undecided on 8' or 6'4" box. I've been running a short box on my '72 crew for a while now and with a tool box in there it doesn't leave much space for anything significant, even mountain bikes have to fit in diagonal... Bu the Crew/8' bed trucks look loooong. I do like the look /proportions of the 6'4" as well.

I LIKE that green and the case "yellow", but I'm funny about color - I love bold, bright color. When I ordered mine I was limited to white, black, a funny red and blue. I tried for one of the special colors, but they said it would have added two months to the order time a year ago. So in the end I got white with plans for some special paint work next year. I'm thinking about a lime green flame job or candy red & orange flames. We have a guy in town who is a magician with flames - we'll see.

Best wishes with your order "PapeCAT"! Keep us up to date.

Larry

I saw a 3500 in the case construcion yellow the other day. It is more of an orange-ish. My first thought was exactly as the name says - I though it was a constructon company truck. I wasn't a fan. I think it might look okay if put the right accesories on it. In my opinion it would need some extras on it to really "pull off" that color.

Yeah it definitely looks Orange next to the "School Bus Yellow". Looks like the pics from RAM.com are pretty accurate.

I've searched all over for "Hills Green" and came up with nothing...

The Paint Chips on ram.com are perhaps more accurate than the paint images on the model with all the gloss etc. Also, maybe if it doesn't specify clear coat, there is no clear coat? Would be nice to just have an old school single stage.

Been going back and forth a bit about the '72. It is nearly finished... With Bodywork/paint and A/C installed it would be as new really. Or better than new. But it is still a 40 year old truck with 50+ year old engineering for the chassis. It has a VE Cummins Drivetrain/Getrag/divorced Np205 D60F/D70 3.07s... It does have a cool factor though. And unique factor. But a 2012 would be much nicer even if it doesn't have that unique quality. IMO the ST without all the chrome with a unique color would be nice.

Here is another color, "Timberline Green Pearl Coat"

Get the Rambox with the short bed and you'll have room.

I'll look but on Ram's site you don't have a Rambox option for the ST, I'd have to step up to the Outdoorsman etc.

The Rambox is now available for all HD models. It's not on the RAMTRUCKS.com site. I just ordered my 12' PW with a Rambox short bed.

This article is from Canadian press but also applies to the US.

Awesome... Yeah that 6'4" rambox looks great. No need for an in-bed toolbox that takes up valuable bed length space!

Interesting colors.

I think those are fleet colors and can only be ordered on an ST model. I may be wrong though.

Sweet color!

So the '72 is sold. I'd really like to see what the new fleet colors look like in person! I'm going to try to see if dealers that have them in stock can snap a few pics. I did notice that some dealers online list "hills Green" fleet trucks in stock but have a stock photo.

I'm looking to get a 6 speed (wish it was available with the HO) manual, ST, Crew 6'4" RAMBOX 4x4

I got a 2011 SLT in a really red color. Only one in town so far, that I have seen. Really stands out. You are right, the 8' bed is really long, cause that's what I ended up with after years of driving a crew cab with a short box. Seems to manuver(sp) as well as my GMC with the short box, only time will tell.

Definitely not like the computer image on RAM's site!! Definitely not JD green!

Here's another one I think it is the "case construction yellow" or "Omaha Orange"
