2010 LB megacab from the factory?

anybody see the spy photo in Diesel Tech mag of the 2010 Longbed Megacab? I thought they were doing away with the mega since they were going to a true "Crew cab"

You can get the MegaCab short box or get the crew cab Long box. What they deleted was the Quad cab (ex club cab) configuration.

"There are going to be four different wheelbase trucks offered - a Regular Cab long bed (8') at 140.5" wheelbase; a Crew Cab short bed (6'4") at 149.5" wheelbase; a Crew Cab long bed (8') at 169.5"; and the Mega Cab short bed (6'4") at 160.5". They will not be offering a Mega Cab long bed. The 3500 will be available as a dual rear wheel truck in the Regular Cab long bed, Crew Cab long bed, and Mega Cab short bed. It will be available as a single rear wheel truck in the Crew Cab short bed, Crew Cab long bed, and Mega Cab short bed."

This was from a TDR article on the Ram Press release intro.

Besides the semantics, is there anything different (dimension-wise) between the QC/LB & CC/LB?

The crew cab "cab" is longer than the QC "cab."

That's cool... the 3rd Gen QC is 4" longer than the 2nd Gen QC - all in the back seat.

Wonder how much longer the new CC is than the current QC?

The best I can tell...

First number is CC, 2nd *Bolded* number is QC, Red is MC, all numbers are INCHES.

Headroom (Front) 41.0 41.0 40.8
Headroom (Row 2) 39.9 40.5 40.5

Hiproom (Front) 63.6 67.0 64.9
Hiproom (Row 2) 63.2 65.3 64.4

Legroom (Front) 41.0 41.0 41.0
Legroom (Row 2) 39.4 36.7 44.2

Shoulder Room (Front) 66.0 67.0 67.0
Shoulder Room (Row 2) 65.7 66.5 66.5

**NOTE** Quad cab measurements in above list are from 2006, the new QC matches the CC on HIP and Shoulder.

Interesting... CC looks a bit skinnier all around and a bit longer in back than the QC.

Thanks for the info!

the new CC is essentially a MC minus the odd looking sheet metal on the C-pillar...

I think the 'writers' of these auto rags have been fooled by the camo on the 2010 models for about 18months... most have reported seeing a MCLB when what they are seeing is a CCLB with camo to disguise it's cab dimensions.

If someone pays me I will sit out in the wheat field next to the Cummins test track that I drive by everyday. I work about 1/8 mile down the road from it and have seen a lot of activity out there lately. Could possibly get you some good pictures of the new stuff!!

mega cab

I have been selling Dodges 12 years, i have nothing official but I am pretty sure that when they have used up all the bodies they already have made they will switch to the new body crew cab like the 09 1500 and make a long bed with the crew cab. I think they will need new wheelbase frame about 172" like Ford crew long bed. When we see it for 2010 will depend on using up the current bodies already on hand. We will still have both long and short bed quads and crew short bed too.

I sat in the back seat of a 09 1500 CC...my head was hitting a curved support that stuck out from the top rear window...I had to lean forward to prevent from hitting my head.... a design flaw!

I didn't notice this until today, but on the 1500 Crew Cab the bed is only 5'7" so it looks like the 2500/3500 Crew Cabs will be the only way to get a true bedsize.
