Angry 2010 Dodge 3500 wrong fuse box?

Hey guys fairly new here. Today I decided to get rid of my HID's in my truck and put back to sock. Well I ran into a problem. My right side, both low and high beams, will not work. But it did when I touch one of the wires, not the ground, to the bumper... they both lite up. So I looking through my user manual to see about any fuses... well it looks like dodge put the gas fuse box in and not the diesel one in... is this correct or someone mess up or should just burn the thing.

Umm, I am pretty sure there is no gas or diesel specific PDC, unless there is something I don't know about..... they build one and it covers all models, that is why you will have empty slots on some and not others...... not to be a jerk but if you don't know what you are doing then you need to take it to someone who does. An HID system uses high power relays and heavy duty harness unlike stock lights. Do yourself a favor and find a buddy that knows electrical wiring or you could set your truck on fire, short out your harness or even ruin your PCM and it won't be cheap to fix.

Hi Brian. Welcome to DTR! There really isn't a gas or diesel specific TIPM rather a TIPM that will vary slightly based on the options included when the truck was built. The TIPM, if I recall when I went through the settings using my AutoEnginuity scan tool, is selectively programmed based on whether or not it is diesel or gas and auto or manual, then features turned on or off based on dealer option and/or whether or not a specific option is on the truck. The problem you have is with the wiring. Get a friend to help you if you aren't comfortable with troubleshooting and tracing wires. I will try to dig up the wiring diagrams for my truck. They should be close if not identical to your truck.

This is a really great, family friendly forum with a lot of knowledgeable folks. Hopefully you will continue coming here and asking questions. Don't let one post spoil it for you, if it did.

Hey sorry haven't replied earlier been really busy with truck issue and putting slip tank in and getting ready for work. But hit man your not being a jerk at all. I understand perfectly. I did end up tracing the wires back to the TIPM and they all seemed fine so I called dodge and they told me the same thing might be the computer. I didn't have a scanner so I couldn't do anything. They told me it's most likely the ground. So I found the ground and ran to the truck. And now I have lights again. But I still brought it in to make sure it was ok. All was good but the TIPM. And I sure don't feel like throwing out $1300 for one.

Glad to hear your issue is fixed. I was about to post the wiring diagram until I saw your post come through. The TIPM is highly finicky. Mine, while working fine right now has been a nuisance for the last few years. Eventually I'm gonna replace it, but when it doesn't work, I simply clear the nuisance issues and put it off. If you decide to replace it, you can find it online for $544 and under (I found it new for $497) and do it yourself. The settings are stored in the Instrument Cluster and I believe the ECM so when it is replaced, it auto programs. At least in theory it should do that and from what I read from one of the companies that rebuilds them, that is how it should work.

Thank you for all the advise man. And I hear yeah my 6.7 just been so buggy with electrical. But I think I got most of it fingered out. Cause my batteries would be completely dead in 2 days from not starting it. Found the problems, well I hope so, fixed the one not the other. It was my HIDS that would draw power when the truck is shut off, along with my side steps. But I think it's just the module that went for the steps and HIDS well just got rid of them.
