2000, 3500 fuse box question

Ok, have truck described in tag line, I know whats in the pic's happened before I got the truck, just curious if these are things I need to replace? I am considering a 3 month contract in Montana and thought I MIGHT need to fix a fuel heater problem before I went north.
Here are the pics

I know one relay is fuel heater and the other is a 40a trailer relay that I am not sure what it does. It does look like the trailer relay is what torched the fuse cover though.
Any suggestions?

To fix that right can get expensive. Probably need new wiring harness from a junkyard. There may be burnt wires farther down the line going to the rear of the truck also. If it were me I'd break the wires out of the box, cut em back to good stuff splice up extensions and crimp on connectors so the relays could be external.

If it was the Trailer relay? what did it control? I've had a brake controller hooked up and it worked.
What about the fuel heater??

The trailer supply relay provides charging current to your trailer batteries while you are driving. If you don't need to charge them, or don't have them, you don't need that relay.
You still should make sure you don't have other wires, etc. that are going to short out.

I've heard others say you don't need the fuel heater either. That I can't say for certain.

Must have already been done

I have auxillary voltage at my 7pt plug, with out the relay being in the fuse box. I guess its possible that when the problem occurred that the previous owner already fixed the wiring and bypassed the relay panel. There is still voltage where the relay goes though.

I removed my fuel heater years ago and throw it away. I live in the N.W. w/cold weather never have needed it. Do a search for fuel heaters I think you will find that many have done the same with theirs.

The trailer relay also powers the running lights on the trailer. I agree, don't worry about the fuel heater.
