Is there any correlation between oils and the DPF plugging up? For example, will dino oil have a greater propensity to soot up as opposed to a quality synthetic oil? I am not having any problems, just curious more than anything. I ran Amsoil in my 5.9's and didn't know if there was any benefit to it in our DPF trucks. Anyone have experience with this?

 

As long as the engine is healthy and doesn't have oil control problems, you just need to use CJ spec oil.

 

CJ-4 oil (dino or Synthetic) is recommended. That being said Amsoil has been running a blind trial for 2 years now on Dodge, Ford, and GM Diesel pickups with DPFs and have convincing evidence that ALL DPF equipped pickups have problems with fuel dilution and Amsoil's CJ-4 diesel oils were the only oils to maintain viscosity with 5% dilution (more fuel in the oil than I want!!).
