Radio problems
Radio problems
I just got a new smartphone and tried to pair it with my Bluetooth in my 2010 3500 Ram. I have other phones that have been seamless but this phone does not want to cooperate. Tech support at my provider have been next to useless.
I tried one more time this afternoon and my U connect stopped working and my radio does not emit any sound whatsoever and my volume is turned up.
My U connect does not show the icons for phone pairing etc.
Has anyone had this problem and if so is there a way to re-connect?

I am also having problems with my right side power mirror and am having it looked at on Tuesday. It is under my extended warranty. I may have to have then look at this as well and hope it is under my extended warranty.

Probably the RER radio then. The code should be listed on the bottom right of the radio.
There could be a compatibility issue with your new phone. Check out the following link for phone/radio compatibility:
MyGig Radio Phone Compatibility
I was doing some research online for new software for the RER radio. If your radio hasn't been updated since you got it, that could be why. The latest update I found, supposedly has an issue if you use Sirius Traffic. Be cognizant of this if the dealer says it needs an update and that is what they will update it too.
Check this link for more info:
Jeep Garage - RER 2.404 Update Disables Sirius Traffic
If your radio is no longer covered under warranty and they say it needs replacement, hopefully not, but look into getting the RHR radio instead (first available in 2012 I do believe). I upgraded the stock radio (RES) to the RHR without a single issue and my Nexus 5 works great when connected. Got the radio on eBay for around $800 shipped.
One other thing, check your fuses, even pull all the radio/amp applicable fuses to see if that resets your audio.

Hopefully this is just a minor glitch and it will go away. My service rep decided to have a hissy fit and quit while I was in Yuma for two months and I did get a few freebies from him hen he was there , now i have to start suck holing all over again.
I will try to locate the fuses and see if I can a problem.
I don't recall where I read this but if you disconnected your main battery on the truck and leave it off for about a minute and then re-connect that it resets the truck back to factory. Does this make sense? This goes back several years so don't know if this is applicable to these trucks.

Good service reps are hard to come by.
Disconnecting the battery won't reset it back to factory, it may help clear up weird issues. Before disconnecting the battery make sure you remove the radio fuses. I think Chrysler even recommends that. There is a potential to kill the radio if you don't.
If they won't cover your radio, you can try to update it yourself. If you want to give that a shot, let me know and I'll get you the link to the info. Pretty straight forward.

I checked my truck this morning to find that I now have my radio back. It must have got frustrated with me trying to pair my phone. The phone number you showed on the my gig site was called and they tell me that I need a upgrade and they told me how to do it.
Thanks for everything.
Thanks for everything.
Here is the final outcome. I contacted U connect and one girl told me how to download the upgrade onto a memory stick and then plug it into my radio for the download. I tried to do it only to find this option is only available to US owners and we peons here in Canada have to take it to a dealer for the upgrade.
I then find out that the phone I got which is a Blackberry Z10 (my big mistake) has security options that cause this download problem. My answer to all this was to return the phone to my provider(they have a buyers remorse clause) and I will be getting the new Samsung Galaxy S5 once the paperwork is done.
Sorry for all the posts but thanks for the input and help.
Unless the upgrade is free I will not be paying for this and have been assured that Samsung will not be a problem to integrate with my radio.

Albertaguy,
Below is a link to get the latest software for your radio:
Jeep Garage - RER/REW/REP 2.404 Update
The link and info is in the first post.
The thread starter, *sox* archives software updates for folks to download. If you have the REN (non nav), it is listed through the archive as well.
If you would rather get it straight from the source, is this the link Uconnect gave you:
https://rsur.extra.chrysler.com/rsur/Uconnect.do
If so, either PM your VIN and I'll upload it to a file share or look for a free web proxy. If that isn't the website, would you mind sharing for others? Do the same and find a proxy that will emulate your IP as being in the US (some proxy's are automatic, others allow you to select a region, and some are very basic).
One proxy you could try is: https://www.proxfree.com/
The upgrades are free, but the dealer may charge you for time...the update process is simple. Download the ISO and burn as an image to a CD. Also download the updates for gracenotes (burn to a DVD).
I hope this helps.

I was in Yuma AZ for 2 months and could surf the net on my laptop and get all the US sites but when I tried to get some Canadian stuff it turned me down as I was in the US.

I will be at my dealer on Tues. and ask them if they will do the update at no charge but if not I will take your info to a third party and see what can be done.
I just don't believe that U connect can do that to us especially after what we pay for our vehicles.
