Project "Extended Range"
Well today was the day to get the aux tank plumbed in. It was great. My son and I worked on it all day and he was right in there a helpin (besides shooting his airsoft pistol into a box and having a lil fun now and then).
removal of the bed. used the cherry picker and cycle straps in each corner. lifted right up.

Once the bed was off, had clear shot on the tank. Cleaned it up a bit and went to town on the vent mod and plumbing for the aux tank.

hole drilled for bulkhead fitting for vent mod.

bed back on the truck and laid down the new bed mat (figured since it was lined and got a KILLER deal on the mat, just added protection)
the hole for the feed line is cut and trimmed out with 1/4" line to prevent chaffing on the tank.

Got the pump/filter assembly mounted. Had a buddy here in town machine me the billet bracket for the FASS EM1001 150gph pump. Probably overkill for a transfer pump BUT why not. (actually there was a purpose for doing such a large pump. when the FASS HD150 gets here to feed the motor, IF it ever fails, I can swap over a line from the xfer pump and feed the motor to get home)

Manual ball valve along with a 12v 1/2" electric solenoid to control fuel

some miscellaneous shots of the filter/pump assembly

Only thing left is to wire the pump and solenoid. Going to get some guarded switches. One to activate the solenoid AND supply switched power to the pump switch then the 2nd switch to start the pump. This way you CAN NOT run the pump without the solenoid being activated to prevent any gravity over filling AND burning up the pump. Will start that tomorrow (being single has its advantages. Can call mom in the morning and get that out of the way and then BOMB ON!)

wired and operating!
Took the FASS harness and added another relay to operate the solenoid to open fuel flow

the entire harness is in split loom and also added a 2nd ground for protection

harness travels and zip tied along the left side frame along the fuel lines

All tied up and looks pretty darned good.

Relays mounted to the firewall

Battery section of the harness is tucked around the back side between the sheet metal and battery box, then connections are tucked up under the blanket

looked around the cab for a location for the switches and LED lights.

FOUND ONE

the red switch arms the solenoid and opens fuel flow. also provides power to the pump relay so the pump will NOT work unless the red arming switch is on and the fuel solenoid is open to supply fuel

the blue switch is for the pump. will NOT work unless the red one is on
