Fellas,

Towing my TH across country. Getting stationed in North Carolina. Truck just gave me the Exhaust Service Required - see dealer now. I am deleted, running the Smarty Jr. First problem in 13,000 deleted miles. Any ideas??

Tried with the Jr. Didn't work, kept on driving. After the second full-up code went away. No idea. No power loss, no smoke, etc.

Where are you going in NC? I am stationed at Cherry Point near Lejeune. Hit me up on a PM and I will get you my cell. Maybe we can link up sometime.

Made it to J'Ville on Monday night.
GCVW - 28010
Avg EGT - 1050 (Smarty on Tow setting)
Avg MPG - 7.8
Avg speed - 55

Cruise control netted the worst MPG. Best tactic was to cruise down hills then downshift to 5th and hit the uphill letting the mph down to 55ish. Got up to 9.8 mpg with that tactic.

N2D - Getting stationed on Lejuene, close on our house tomorrow then TMO is delivered. Will PM you my info. Would be awesome to meet up. Might "downgrade" to a 200ish Cummins out here since I won't be towing but 2 to 3 times a year.

Are you using the TowHaul function? I don't tow as much weight as you have (I run 20k GCVW), but it works great in cruise for me when I'm getting tired. When I'm fresh I never use cruise because I can get better MPGs without it. High 9's sounds pretty good for 28k.

I was using the tow/haul. My wife and I traveled 2800 miles in 3 days, so I had a lot of time to experiment, haha. I was used to pulling in California/Oregon so I always "locked" out 6th and towed in 5th. Towing thru New Mexico, Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Tennessee and North Carolina I was able to tow in 6th and not bog the truck if I kept above 60 mph. I just hated how the cruise control would let the truck go below about 3-5 mph than the set mph and then downshift to try and catch back up going up grades. Again, I'm deleted and I was VERY concerned about lifting the head and blowing my head gasket.

How come your dpf is getting full towing? On my truck towing would clear out the dpf. You doing lots of idling? I put 7000 miles on my truck prior to deleting the dpf. Most of them towing, the dpf and cats were very clean (almost brand new looking) when I removed them.

Mike,

I am fully deleted. I recieved that error message 13,000 miles after I deleted everything. The truck currently has 32,000 miles on it with 17,000 deleted miles. Since my incident it has happened to a couple other forum members. No clue why, just a glitch I suppose. I do not idle for long, 3 to 5 minutes when it's sat to get the coolant temp up.

What version of the Jr are you using? More recent releases took care of some of those issues. 14ME_B is the latest release for 10-12 trucks.
