my 2011 and deletes

Hey, Just wanted to share my experience with my 4th gen and deletes...most of my pictures are post work but illustrate the changes none the less. ALL i can say for those on the fence is save up the money and do it....

my new truck dealer shinny

Add 35" 12.50 17 michey thompson ATZ

Add Hell Bent Steel 2.5 leveling kit and steering brace...took about 3 hrs in the drive way to do....the faster you put that on the easier all the bolts a come loose

and some bilstein 5100's

as more money came in the DPF delete stuff started to arrive all to include magnaflow 4 inch exhaust and 6 inch tip, 4 inch MBRP delete pipe no bungs

no muffler and no DPF

everything came out and went on super easy took less than an hour to unhook, un bolt, and re-install new pipes

Then i went to the engine, AFE stage 2 CAI, sinster egr and cooler delete, GDP throttle valve delete, and GDP open breather

Engine compartment is soooo clean and uncluttered all installed without any issues...there was one bolt on the egr cooler exhaust elbow that needed a crows foot to get to, but my truck had less than 5000 miles on it and onc ethe bolts were loose they all came right out..... the install was easy and everything fit just like it was supposed to...about 3 hours for all the engine mods and this is what was left over

I didnt have any soot problems in the intake like u see in alot of the pictures, but i have not run the truck hard either.

I elected for the smarty jr67me because it gave me everything i needed for the cost, just have to add a pyro and ill be set for awhile... i truely have a very easy tear down and install and have been pleased with all the help and advice i have gleaned over the past 6 months her from others on the site while i have been stock piling parts. love the power and fuel mileage gains...i am getting around 20 average now, the truck sounds like a diesel and runs great!!

Nice truck and nice thread about the mods!! Thanks!

Just ordered my mini max and delete pipe.. I'm just gonna do the stealth deletes for now.. Since the MM just turns off the EGR system and unpluging the T. Valve locks it open.. Should be just about the same gains, just not clean under the hood...

Did you not do a head bolt retorque or studs yet?
I'm just gonna retorque my stock bolts to 135 or so & then roll with some extra power... Not gonna get crazy though.. I'll buy another race truck / toy for that some time.

I'm also gonna keep the stock down pipe and resonator (some call it the muffler)... I want it to stay quiet and with no drone..

thanks.....i run the smarty on standard tune and am not looking for crazy power...just efficiency....clean healthy motor...clean oil.....and leting the engine breath in and out the way its supposed too. I have read about studs, but if you are turning up the tune to the point that boost is threatening your head gasket seal, there are probably collateral effects on other systems.....like you said if you want monster power build a truck to take it...i just wanted my truck to run free a bit.....however the addiction is hard to resist....

my cabin filter mod

I did the cabin fiter mod after pollen season and the inside of my truck getting covered in yellow from the unfiltered air intake.

glove box comes off super easy - just push in the two tabs for the retaining lugs and remove.

this is what you look at...with the un cut filter door area

just cut the rectangle out...the plastic is really thin...a sharp blade is all you need from a utility knife just takes a few minutes and this is what you get.

plastic removed just insert filter

and snap the door cover on...its super easy

thats it...

chrysler filter and door ordered online...delivered to the house for 30.00 now no more dust inside the cab!!!

Smartyjr and new updates

I just ran the software update for my smartyjr me and it has improved throttle response and turbo spool up. not sure about any of the other levels but i had it on sw#1 before and left it there and i drove it before and after the software update and there is a noticable difference.

So aside from timing etc i was interested in what the actual proposed numbers were. since there is no really definitive hp settings or literature that explains what the levels mean, i emailed mads electronics and here is what they said.

for 2010 and up there are 5 levels on the smartyjr

in the smarty they are labeled

(stock(x), standard(sw#0), fuel economy(sw#1), towing(sw#2), and performance(sw#3))

here is what mads says

Stock = factory settings with all emission systems active erg/dpf etc.

Standard = stock programing with emissions DPF/EGR/tv systems functions etc. eliminated/deleted

Fuel economy = +40hp

Towing = +70hp

Performance = +100hp

Thanks to Gianfranco Castano from MADS for getting back to me so quickly

hope this helps everyone elese who had no idea what stock, standard, fuel economy, towing, and performance meant.
