How to wire 5 gal. air compressor?
I'm looking at somehow hooking up a 5 or so gal electric air compressor to my truck. To blow out cab of tractor, radiator, and air filters on jobsites. Could I connect to batteries with a switch, or pto on tranny?...how would one do this/if even possible? Don't want a gas powered one cause takes up too much room, and don't want to spend a lot. Thanks!
One way is to find a 12volt pump from a Caddy or Buick that had an air ride suspension from the factory. Most of them would support up to 125 psi or so.Should be fairly cheap at a junk yard. Put it on a switch and plumb it to a tank.
I would use a relay or a fused connection for your application. I have an onboard air compressor for my air bags wired this way; works great.
I purchased a Pain-Less 3-Circuit Auxiliary weather-resistant Fuse Block with a 3-Circuit Top-tap connector from Geno’s Garage to power the onboard air compressor and my other electrical needs. I like a clean look for my truck.
Just another suggestion.
