new 2500 economy

Just bought a 2012 Ram 2500 4x4. Disappointed with fuel mileage being at steady 14-16. Driving very eco friendly. Small 5x10 trailer drops to 12-13. Looking to do deletes but being very caution. What is best and how far into deletes to get decent mileage.
Thanks.

Yours is doing better than mine. I'm getting around 13 after deletes and I don't drive hard. Was getting 11ish before deletes.

I was thinking that mileage was awesome without deletes. If I drive 55-60 I can muster that kind of mileage but I just can't bring myself to do that.

A friend bought a dually about 3 months ago and he is getting 17-18 with a welding machine in back. Claims other welders doing same. He has yet installed programmer or deletes. His personal truck, 2500 4wdcrew with 140 miles is getting 20.2 from Houston to Austin on trip.

I like the H&S mini maxx, their delete kits, intake manifold and boost tube, plus their overhead console. I deleted almost right away and get 12.5 mpg towing 13-14k and the other day (winter 2WD 70mph) pulling a dump trailer with weight about 6000lbs the EVIC said 17.8 MPG hiway, that's running mild (+60HP) Auto 3.73 gears. My son has around 85,000ml since deleting with not a single engine code or problem except for having to install a double disc clutch in his manual trans truck.

Hoss, how is that truck doing, looks great. Finally got delete pipes. H & S PRO is on and getting 18-19.5 regular trips from south Houston to 75miles west of Houston. Easy on go pedal and keep between 65-68. Looking forward to pipes to see what happens.

It's doing great but I still don't get near the fuel mileage you do. I drove to Houston and back over the weekend. With my cruise set on 70-75 I can get about 17 mpg. My daily driving is 13-14 mpg.

About to make it worse though. I have a Ranch Hand replacement front bumper on the way to add another 300 pounds or so to the front end.

Yes, it might do that. I still have to install my 2'' leveling kit on front. It may affect mine to. We just gotta do what we gotta do!

I'm getting the same mileage as you, leveling kit and 285s made no difference.

Try unplugging the electrical connector on the EGR the next time you take a road trip. It will throw a code, but you'll get 18-20mpg empty instead of 16. Code goes away after you plug the connector back in and drive it a couple of days.

Just got thru installing deletes. Going to east tx this weekend. See what it will do. H & S PRO took care of the EGR. I also have the 285/70 BFG allterains.

I would love to do a programmer and deletes for the mileage, but don't want to lose the warranty right now. And my wife says no way am I spending more money after just getting the truck, got to make her happy.

Ya, that is what I said to but, I was not willing to live with the 14 - 15 mpg. I was getting. Friends kept telling me do it. And I did it, hoping no bad comes out of it. Good luck!
