My wife just couldn't wait until Christmas to give me one of my Christmas presents...her excuse (pretty good one if you ask me
) was that she didn't want me working on my truck on Christmas Day since we will be in Farmington, NM this year with family, so this morning she wouldn't stop bugging me about opening one of the gifts. I told her if she doesn't feel guilty and if it is just that important to her to give me an early present, then she had to make the decision to give it to me...of course that didn't sway her so she brought out a wrapped box with a big cheesy smile on her face...so I did what any thoughtful husband would do, gave her the camera and commenced opening it...and this is what was in the box:

So now the question of the day, she said I had to wait until after the new year for the Mega-Flow Throttle Valve Grid Heater, as with anything I get for the truck, I get the itch to install immediately, but this time, I want to be extra cautious. So the question is: Can I install it without any issues running without a Grid Heater? I am in Las Vegas so it doesn't get as cold as Farmington or even Montana where we moved from. I have been reading that folks haven't had much trouble starting below 20deg without a heater and someone supposedly contacted Cummins who stated it wasn't necessary.
So what's the consensus say from the experienced folks? Can I install or should I wait?

So much for getting it done before work lol. The IAT sensor plug was not easy to take off and I ended up breaking the locking tab on accident when trying to get it off. Oh well! So much for a 3-4 hour job lol.
4 of 6 lines were removed before I had to stop. Hopefully I can get it done in the morning.

Good to hear N2D!
I finally finished and got the truck started! So far no issues. Letting the truck warm up a bit before taking it for a spin.
I do want to add that GDP earned a lifetime customer. The intake manifold gasket was slightly bent in a corner from packaging and I wasn't sure if I could use it. So I called and spoke to Rich. He offered to send me a new one (this was Friday) or if I got one locally he would reimburse me.
I ended up going to the Rocky Mountain Cummins dealer to pick up a new one - another shout out to them. They gave me a military discount, I didn't even expect it or ask for one - another company that earned my business for life.
Both companies have Great Customer Service!
Well, off to go for a test drive!

Test drive went great! Not too sure if the EGTs really went down much, but it feels much more responsive. I'm curious what the mileage will be like when we head out to NM next weekend.
Thanks fellas for relieving my fears on this one.
