Additives?
Additives?
What if any, is the best additives to use in the fuel? This is my first diesel truck and I want to do it right. Also, Ive seen threads that speak about the fuel filters and water separator filter. Is it best to keep these on hand in the tool box? Ive had a few "big" trucks in the past and tow quite often, 22' gator made flat bed to haul a 60 hp New Holland and a 35' 5er camper, just a newbie to the diesel maintenance on the trucks. Thanks for the great website its real helpful for guys like me that aint afraid to ask the simple questions

Our equipment rental shop here swears by this stuff and they have tried it all.
$26.95 qt. Super concentrated and a bottle treats 500 gallons.

I've been using AMSOIL Diesel Injector Clean since the truck was new. Now have almost 134K miles on it.
Some have gone twice that and more with no problems not using any additives but I think it is a gamble since fuel quality can very greatly.

Here is what I use
Stanadyne Additives
I have tried many but none have actually performed a traceable improvement like stanadyne I would say 2-4% better mileage depending on your engine's health. It's the only one designed by a fuel injection systems manufacturer. They should know best what works and what doesn't in an injection system.

+1 for the Amsoil injector cleaner.
I run a full bottle every 10 tanks or so and am at 320,000 km on stock injectors with just over 8000 hours on the engine, looooots of idle time. It seems to run a little smoother and get a bit better mileage for the next couple tanks after every bottle.
