Will Dodge bring back the 10 Cylinder Gas Engine?
I have read in Light and Medium Trucks magazine that Ford will offer their 10 cylinder gas engine...in F650, and F750 trucks as a cheaper alternative to the new "clean diesels" as required in 2010. A return of the 10 cylinder gas engine with multi-displacement, variable valve timing might have cost advantages for those of us who dont keep a truck beyond 150k miles. Plus gas is a lot cheaper than diesel!

On paper, it's an interesting idea. Getting people to buy it is another story.
They couldn't give the 8 liter v-10's away from yesteryear. They might be afraid to try again with a newer / more modern engine.
Interesting thought tho!

Makes sense for those of us who really don't need a diesel but would like the power and torque of one without the expense. How do I define need; less then 6,000 miles a year of driving.

but like I said in another thread, I can't imagine using one of these HD trucks with a gasoline motor for towing....

I had a 2001 F250 cc shortbed with the V10 and loved it for 4 years until I went to Colorado and towed home a 25' toyhauler with a 2 seat sandrail in it. Coming back over I-70 at high altitude I was going 45 mph down hill on the freeway with my foot through the floor board. I stopped 6 or 7 times to check my brakes, trailer brakes, tires, bearings, etc thinking something was wrong. Closer I got to Vegas the faster I could go, got up to 70 mph, however I had to stop at every gas station on the way. Got home and traded it for my Dodge cummins and will never tow with a gasser again.

I 70, Eisenhower tunnel elevation is 11000 feet extreme for any vehicle, Las Vegas is at 1500-2000 feet. I would hope you could tell a difference! As far as braking, it sounds like you started out too fast to begin with (you are lucky to be alive).
