Trouble?

Today my CEL came on. I pulled in to fill up, thinking maybe the gas cap may have been loose, and, Smarty said there were two codes, one was something about throttle position brake controller not alligned, and the other one was
P2271.
Is the 2271 code water in fuel?
Has anyone seen that other trouble code come up?
After I filled up the CEL went out.

diesels do not have evap system to control fuel vapors, a loose gas cap check engine light is impossible.

also complete your signature, don't know what you are driving to better help ya

P2271-O2 SENSOR 1/2 OUT OF RANGE LOW

Theory of Operation
The engine aftertreatment system monitors the oxygen content in the exhaust. The Powertrain Control Module (PCM) monitors the exhaust gases for oxygen content and varies the fuel injector on time to control the intake air fuel mixture. This monitor checks the O2 Sensor 1/1 at zero fueling condition, when the oxygen concentration in the exhaust should be close to air. The PCM will illuminate the MIL lamp if it detects that the actual O2 measurement does not match the expected value in two drive cycles. The PCM will turn off the MIL lamp after the monitor runs and passes in four consecutive drive cycles.

When Monitored:
This monitor runs when the engine is running at zero fueling event (decel condition for 10 seconds, with foot off of accelerator pedal).

Set Condition:
The Powertrain Control Module (PCM) will set the fault if it detects that the O2 Sensor 1/2 measurement is too low at zero fueling event.

Possible Causes
AIR FILTER
(K733) O2 SENSOR 1/2 PUMP CELL CURRENT TRIM CIRCUIT SHORTED TO GROUND
EXCESSIVE FUEL ENTERING THE AFTERTREATMENT/EXHAUST SYSTEM
MASS AIR FLOW SENSOR
ENGINE MISFIRE
FUEL DELIVERY SYSTEM FAILURE
INTAKE AIR SYSTEM LEAK
EXHAUST SYSTEM LEAK
EGR SYSTEM LEAK
O2 SENSOR 1/2
O2 SENSOR MODULE

if you have water in your fuel, there is another light for that. also i took a guess at you driving a 2011 truck. if you can get me the other code, i can look it up for ya

Hey thanks. I am driving a 2010 Dodge 2500, with dletes and smarty set on ME version.

The other code is not showing a code number just a description as described above.

Do you have a link for codes on these trucks?

Thanks
Jim

It is ME, has been on the truck for 14,000 miles. According to Smarty, nothing needs to be unplugged. Are they wrong?

Make sure all of the sensors which were in your exhaust system are unplugged/removed. When I did my deletes, I was short on time and didn't disconnect all of the exhaust sensors...I just secured them to the truck. I received similar codes until a couple of days later when I had time to get back under the truck and finish removing the sensors.

I think the problem was that the truck was still trying to read the sensors even though I was running the Smarty ME software.

The delete instructions for the smarty I read said to unplug the DPF ... and I think the throttle valve sensors I believe you don't have to remove them....just unplug them. I could be mistaken though....

I didn't unplug the throttle valve sensor, Mads told me I did not have to unplug anything...2010 model, is that wrong?

That may be part of it. I dd not unplug them, just taped them up and left them in place. I will try that.
I sent Mads a message asking them about it.
The funny thing is, this error code is one triggered by the Ox sensors, and I am pretty sure they are the ones we took out of the exhaust system when I deleted. So, if Smarty does disables them, wonder why they are showing an error code?
I will try unplugging them, thanks for the advice.

Try not to beat me for this

It's hard to say with the Smarty. The H & S does a much better job

I though long and hard about the other tuner. I went with Smarty based on the info I get here. Another big Dodge truck site likes H&S better.
I emailed Smarty, we will see if they respond and help me. I know last time I tried to get help, they never even responded.
Guess I don't speak Latin.
If it does not get resolved, the tuner will be for sale here.

Smarty FTW! Send me a PM if you are still having trouble and I will shoot you one back with my phone number, so I can try and troubleshoot your issues over the phone.

Where at in Texas are you located?

Just an FYI on this matter.

First Smarty did email me, (24hrs later) but they were no help at all. They did say the O2 sensor was still monitored with the DPF delete. ( If you want quick live help, but H&S.)

I returned my truck to "stock" and then reloaded the program. Since then the CEL has not come on.
