Stock 6.7

I am wondering who has the most miles on there stock 6.7 and have you had any problems? I just bought a new 2012 2500 and then come to find out about all the emissions crap on the truck. Blah blah blah whatever I have already read 100 threads on here about that lol.

Just trying to gauge what the stock engine and transmission life expectancy may be with all the soot going back into the engine. F%$king tree huger's

BTW I drove my truck today pulling my enclosed trailer and averaged 11.2 MPG grrrr so ****** about that. I know its to early to tell engine not broken in blah blah blah but that just out and out sucks.

Hope I didn't make a bad purchase

Hard to say who has most miles, quite a few with 200k+miles that are still stock. My 3rd Gen in Signature just went over 72k last week, stock for the most part. Your milage will improve some around 15K or so during break in. Of course there are things that can be done to it to make it better, its up to you.

I work on these trucks everyday so I see all the problems. 2012 have been very good so far with only occasional o2 sensor code. Great trucks I wish I could afford one.

The O2 sensor code, is that "code" for your intake is almost clogged and your turbo is about to explode, you are down to 1500ml oil changes because of fuel dilution and have no fuel economy. Sorry can't help it but with a sticker price of over $70k for the 2011's it's not what you expect, are the 2012's that much different from the 2011's?

I notice back when the G56 was first used there was a TSB for it jumping out of reverse because of the reverse gear synchro, you would think this was fixed but my son had to abandon his 2011 G56 truck because of jumping out of reverse gear, useless trying to back a heavy trailer, the local dealer here didn't know what I was talking about?

No, you're thinking of the P2262 code.

Gee, I only paid $38k for mine . Only had one code in 33k miles, yeah it was the o2 sensor- dealer replaced it under warranty.

And in the future if we have to live without warranty because the truck can't run in the frozen North then we may as well buy them at YOUR corner store, pay what you pay, bring them back here and delete them. We would be exactly where we are now but 30 odd thousand dollars still in our pockets. What is Dodge going to do.. take the warranty away twice. Before you know it you will be seeing rams with DRL and metric speedo's on your lots. I got the first O2 sensor code in the auto at less than 3000ml.. I fixed it and never had it againand the G56 truck hasn't had a code in well over 100,000ml. How long ago did you have your intake manifold off?

I removed my EGR solenoid to see what the engine was breathing, and yes it's ugly in there. Not as ugly as the pictures you posted awhile back because I probably don't have to idle as much. But alas, it's stayin' in-place until my warranty is up. I unplug it on road trips for better mpgs and cleaner air.

SOHappy: Do you just unplug the EGR on top of the engine and you get better mileage? Does it throw a code. I cannot delete just yet. My truck has only 10K miles, and I don't want to lose the warranty.

Thanks!

Yes, the rectangular-shaped plug on the driver's side, above the battery. It does throw a code, but for highway driving it can't be beat. Shouldn't effect warranty. I've been to the dealer a couple of times for minor things and they never mentioned it. Of course it was plugged in when I went to the dealer. Sometimes it takes a day or two of driving around to clear the code once it's plugged back in.

SOhappy can you post a pic of the EGR un-plugged, are we talking about a hose you disconnect? Whats the affect on City driving if you un-plug it?

i.e. I assume you're just unpluging the EGR valve Motor connector correct?

Yes, it's an electrical connector. An inch or two higher than the driver's side battery, in front of the brake fluid reservoir.

Here's a picture I found on-line (not a diesel, but looks the same-ish):

Since the truck won't regen with the EGR unplugged, your DPF will slowly plug up if you do a lot of city driving and you'll notice a drop in power. I'm guessing idling and accelerating at stop-lights is to blame vs. highway use.
