Shutdown timer

Wondering if anybody has had experience with having the OEM shutdown timer activated. I cant seem to find much info available.

It says it can be set for 5 minute increments. That seems fine for heavy towing, but are you stuck with the min 5 minutes on every shutdown. Or, is there a way to switch it off for daily driving?

oh, 2014 3500

thanks

Never heard of this feature. I have a 2014 2500, is this only on 3500's?

I was reading one of the electronic owners manual, I believe it was in 2500 3500 diesel supplement. It had to be dealer enabled.

I'm curious now. I'm going out to my truck to check it out.

They say the "high idle" needs to be dealer enabled, but mine worked when I tried it.

My high idle worked right off the lot. Don't know where you would turn on the shutdown timer.

Just came back in. Best I can tell is it's accessed through uconnect at the following path:

Apps/settings/engine shut down

The only two options I have on that menu are... how long power remains on after shutdown, and how long the lights stay on after shutdown.

Reading the recommended idle based off driving conditions, 99% of the time 2min would be max like you said. I imagine that you could set this feature to "0" (ie. off).

I'm going to request this feature when I take my truck in to get the tire pressure sensor replaced.

Sitting at the dealer now and they said they would see what needed to be done in order to enable it.

So here is the deal on the idle shutdown. It's actually the time that you can have the dealer adjust for shutdown after a remote start. It is not a turbo timer. In other words it does not keep your engine running after you shut down and take the key out. It's simply for how long it remains at idle after a remote start.
