About 3 times now and about 3 weeks between each time it happened i have had a rough start followed by it smoothing out and 1 quick burst of blue smoke then its all normal. Everytime has been after sitting overnight. When i say rough start i mean it fires right up then about a second count of feeling it shake then it cleard out. Any ideas

Mine has always done that, but only just barely. I figured it was the stooopid EGR kicking in , as it doesn't do it when the EGR is unplugged. Might want to try that and see if that solves the problem. Oh, I just noticed you're deleted. Never mind....

How many miles on your truck?

Also, do you wait for the grid heater to kick off before starting the truck?

Also, do you have the "High Idle" set on the truck?

I would not worry about it then. One thing you might want to consider is plugging in the block heater. It always keeps my radiator fluid at between 110-120 deg F. That might help but honestly I would not worry too much. As long as your temps are good you should be fine. Just remember, the transmission is still cold so even when the truck is fully warmed up I think my transmission is always still around 50-60 deg.

Mine is doing this now, as well. It has happened during start up from sitting all day or all night. The temps in the morning are not cold yet (60 degrees) and this afternoon it was 80 degrees.
I changed the oil, filter and fuel filter yesterday. Oil is changed every month (3k miles) and the fuel filter is changed every 15-20K miles.

2005 Ram 3500. Smarty Jr, 4" exhaust, BHAF air filter 301304 miles on truck, motor has ~80K miles (replaced after #6 inj burned.
