question on dually trucks

I have a 2011 cab/chassis 3500 4x4
the truck seems to wander a lot. so much so that it is annoying. it seems to do this at all speeds. i am curious is this normal for duallies or do i need to get it checked out. I just checked pressures and rotated the tires and if anything it seems worse. I am wondering if there is any thing to check or do before i get an alignment. any known problems? thanks

No - that is not normal. The alignment IS off. I'd suspect that the tie-in is not set properly. The castor can also be a cause, but an alignment will solve all.

Wow, they can sell you one, but not service it???? I think I'd find another dealer. It,s bad enough that we find techs that think a power step modual is a 'programmer' and want to void a guys warranty, but to not be able to do an alignment. Ugggh

funny thing this is the good dealership around here. unfortunately i have had nothing but bad experiences with any other dealership in my area. they are all sheisters. 1 has closed its doors thankfully. Around here the only good dealers are ford's.

I have a 2011 3500 c&c regular cab and my truck runs strait no wandering on flat roads. Only on crowned or roads with deep ruts in them do I have to watch out a bit more.

I don't know how many miles are on your tires, but new tires can do what your describing. When I put new tires on my 2010, I put factory oem tires on and the truck was terrible for the first 3000 miles. My 2012 came with the same tires again and no problems.

just had alignment and balancing. a whole lot better. got rid of some vibrations too. tires have 15,000 on them. they are the stone throwing generals. thanks for the input.

one other thing that was strange is that the inside of the front rims looks as though the calipers has worn the paint off of the rims both sides. has anyone else had this happen. i need to paint them as it is down to bare metal. not a big deal but never seen this before.

Heat from the brakes maybe? How heavy are you running the truck? Are you towing without trailer brakes?

OK, please post up. If it's rubbing there should be marks on the caliper. Almost sounds like the offset hubs are missing. That would be a trick.

Trick for aligning duals is to remove the rear wheels. Turn the inside wheel around and mount like the outside wheel usually is. Then you can align the truck.

here is a pic of 1 of the front rims. they both look like this. the dark spots are primer and bare metal. it hasnt dug into the metal mostly surface. really wondering if this is normal as every time i rotate i will have to paint.
