A Pleasant 4th Gen Experience!

Well Yall,

Let me tell you what. Changed the fuel filter on my truck today. Who ever designed the 4th gen fuel filter setup, well, Id like to take em to supper, a nice steak dinner, and then give em a big ole kiss right on the lips.

Man oh man what a difference.

If youve ever changed a 3rd gen 6.7 fuel filter vs a 4th gen 6.7 fuel filter you know what I mean.

The 3rd gen guy, Id like to give him a swift kick in the

I swear, took me all of 5 mins to change the filter this afternoon, it was almost a pleasure to do so.

Also changed my MK2 filter while I was at it. Nothing like super clean #2 to keep your Cummins HAPPY!

Man, I was looking at an '11 2500 with the super duper laramie package for the Mrs this weekend... don't tempt me...

What's the one with the special leather, and the pockets on the back seats look like saddle bags? Yeah, that one. $60k....

Dude,

Thats the Laramie Longhorn!

Most awesome truck to ever hit the market, hands down.

If it was available with a G56 Id think hard about trading my new Laramie for one.....

Secondary filter set up by Glacier Diesel.

A must have in my book, should be standard equipment.

No worries, ask away, Im more than happy to help.

You should hear some of my convo's with my old man. He just went from a 2nd Gen ('02) to a spanky new '11

Todays topic of interest, why one must change their fuel filter every 15k miles on a common rail, and not just change it when a "noticable power loss is experienced"

Parents...... I swear!

I was drooling over a 3500 longhorn up here last week.
74K!?!?
And the dealer I have dealt with for over 25 yrs tells me they are selling for full retail. No 500 over invoice on them. That was the deal breaker for me. I guess they are built out for 2011 now and several trucks did not even get scheduled to build. Shortages of steel, limitations on paints etc etc.

I can wait.

I can go to Fargo and get what I want for 58K USD for a 3500 crew Longhorn 4x4. I will lose my warranty though. If I was in a situation where I had to have a new truck...I think thats the way I would go.

My MEGA mega is doing real well and I am doing some refreshing on it.
Replacing the pc o crap spray in liner, new mud flaps all around, leather interior, stereo, new bilsteins, new rubber for the fall. May put a gear splitter on and free spin hubs too. I am convinced I can see better then 21 mpg on the hwy if I do what I am planning.

I think Chris is converting his to 9-volt power and has a KOMODOCHAIR lift installed on it.

Blake,
Do you have 15K on the new 11' DRW? If so, how many total miles have you had on the MK2 prior to changing? Also, does the hose scrape the MK2 at all. Not sure what the name of it is but there are 2 of them directly behind mine and they look identical. The bottom one is the one scraping

14019 actually....

Installed the MK2 at 4k (give or take a couple), so I only had 10k on that filter. Changed em both to get em on the same schedule.

I havent had any hose chafing on my setup at all....

15K Miles for a fuel filter change? That's great....I usually only get 3k to 5k before a start noticing a loss of take off power...then followed by the tranny kicking out of OD everytime i accelerate....how much is the MK2 filter installed? it might be worth it if I can get 15K out of a fuel filter..

On the MK2 filter setup, say you had any type of fuel problem under warrenty, do you think the dealer would give you any trouble having that filter and bigger line kit on there? warrenty wise im talking
