Should all the needles make a full sweep and back? Because my speedo only swept about 3/4 of the way and back. All of the other gauges made a full sweep.

I just checked my truck, the speedo went to 100, 75, 55, 20, 0, the tach went to 5, 3, 1, 0. All other gauges went full right.

Mine are going through the same points. I checked twice. Once when the truck was acting normal and once when the truck was acting up.
I've got a couple more questions. If I put my truck back to stock programming and if the dealership flashes the computer, should I be able to load my smarty back afterwards without problems.
Also, I found a mother post somewhere where a guy was having the exact same symptoms with the PD421 code. For him it was supposedly the aftermarket radio he put in. He then took it out and said it was fine. But I haven't changed anything like that.

Well, per the service manual, the cluster sounds like it is checking good, however, what concerns me is that the cluster, when you had it pulled out, was acting up nearly on demand if I remember correctly from an earlier post. There could be a problem with one of the connections on the back of the unit, I would suspect inside rather than one of the plugs. If you hadn't stated that earlier, I would next suspect the TIPM.
As far as the dealer goes, who knows what will happen. Prior to January or February (I can't remember the exact time), it wouldn't be a problem returning the computer to stock and letting the dealer troubleshoot, but now, it seems like the star scan tool automatically pushes updates (I don't know for sure). If the dealer can assure and reassure you (maybe record the conversation with your phone) that they are able to troubleshoot without pushing the latest bootloader firmware, then I would let them have at it - otherwise, if they pushed that new firmware, you wouldn't be able to use your Smarty anymore and I believe if you tried, it would put the truck in a no start condition and the dealer will have to fix--at your expense.
If this was happening to me, knowing what I know now about the CCN and I was able to replicate your symptoms, if the dealer couldn't guarantee the safety of the PCM, then I would probably source a used cluster from a wrecked truck with the cummins, 4x4, auto, with tach and vehicle info center (build date around the same as yours or later) and swap it in (new they are only about $320 or so through dodgeparts.com - so I would figure half that or less for used). According to the service manual, the instrument cluster automatically configures itself and registers all the components tied to it, so it shouldn't even require a visit to the dealer.
Keep us posted bro! Hopefully this ends up sorting itself out on it's own like mine did after dealing with it for a while. Hate to see you or anyone else potentially come out of pocket for faulty engineering.

I have a guy I know that has nearly the exact same truck as me. I think I'll ask him if he'd be willing to let me try his cluster. That would tell me yay or nay on the cluster.
Also, what is the TPIM? I'd that the fuse block on the drivers side next to the battery?

That would definitely save some time if he will do it.
Yes, the TIPM (totally integrated power module) is the fuse box on the drivers side.

My 2010 did similar weird stuff on the day I picked it up. Posted in December of 2011 about it. Had 38K on it. Dodge dealer reflashed it and all has been good so far.
If you are still under warranty (36 months/36,000 miles) I would take it to them. dodge national is being fussy about what they cover. Other stuff happened (rear window leak) found about three months later that they would not cover under warranty.

And I had no luck getting my hands on a different cluster.

So, I took it to the dealership today. But it figures, the truck has been fine for a 1 1/2 days now. The longest it's gone not having the problem pop up. They couldn't look at it if the problem wasn't occuring. My luck of course. We'll just see what happens. I got 1,150 miles left on my warranty.
