Oil Change Due

2011 3500 G56: Just turned 4,000 miles yesterday. Started up the pickup this morning and the computer says "Oil Change Due." I just had the oil changed at 2,900. . . I do very little idling and the pickup gets worked (tow over 10k) about once or twice a week. 13.5 mpg empty, no acceleration and now oil changes every 3-4 weeks. . . This thing is killing me!

Did you get a warning to change it at 2900 or did you change it just because??

You shouldnt be getting notices that often. I run the heck out of mine with some extended idling and have changed 3 times in 14k miles.

Check your manual, there is a way of turning off this response. I do know you have to remove any extra mats because you must depress the accelerator pedal 3 times plus something else but it does tell you how to do it. I only have 6100 Kms on my truck and I bought it last July. I will only get a service every 6 months.

I didn't get the warning at 2,900, I just changed it because it was new. 3 times in 14k seems more normal to me.

Ya, I reset the warning. I checked the oil first to make sure it wasn't over the max line and it wasn't. Just makes me nervous that too much fuel is getting in the oil.
