New/Used 10 6.7 Guages Went Crazy

Bought a 2010 3500 AT with 39000 miles. On the way home the dash gages went crazy, tach went to 0 rpm, screen said parking sensors need cleaning, oil pressure is low, fuel tank is low, truck is in reverse, outside temp is -20F, etc.

Not all of these came up at the same time but did come up multiple times. Pulled over and called the salesman and later talked to the sales manager.. Said to take it to Dodge.

Nothing happened on the rest of the way home, about 275 miles.

Ant guesses??

Welcome to the website Sir! Sorry your first post had to be about a problem with your new truck.

Our Dodge dealership here has seen a couple of the new trucks do that also.
One of them needed a "reflash" with the Dodge DRB Scanner and the second one had issues with the trucks ECM. I hope yours is the first one. Warranty should cover the issue unless the trucks emission system/DPF has been tampered with and in that case they may void your warranty. Hopefully that is not the case.

Good luck.

unhook you battery grounds, this will reset your computers. My oil pressure gauge would quit along with the engine cooling fan.

My bateries started to get weak and that is what was locking up my instrament cluster, put new batteries and hasn't happened since

On the third gen trucks (03-09) I know for sure if you have a battery issue or battery connection issue it would cause the gauges to do weird stuff.

My batteries went on mine at around 45K miles and 2-3 years old so don't guess because it is 'newish' that you are in the clear. If one fails then it fries both of them is the general rule of thumb as well.

All good advice above, but if you are thinking about taking it to the dealer, you might want to refrain from disconnecting the batteries, or having a look at any other connections. Doing so may remove some evidence that the technicians would need to track down the problem.

Thanks for the input

I want to thank all who replied. If you have anymore thoughts would appreciate them.

I was a little disappointed in the dealer, a really big one in the NW. My salesman was pretty new and don't blame him, I did want to talk to his manager and he did call back.

I asked about 3 day recission rule and was told none existed in the state I purchased from. I asked if I could return the truck and he replied only if you buy another one from us or you could buy an extended warranty. I was pretty disgusted with their attitude. If they had another truck with long bed, AT may have opted for trading it. If this was not what I was looking for likely would have bought local, my fault, will not happen again.

He said to bring the truck back to them or to a Dodge dealer and he would help me with the charges.

Brought the truck to Hannah Dodge in Vancouver, WA. They did a flash of the RCM and PCM modules found 13 codes stored five of them were U0010. One also was code P1451 for DPF performance.

Dodge dealer in Vancouver said they would do this under warranty, I want to thank them, they will have my future business. Service rep said it was easier for them and me in place of trying to bill the other dealer.
