Hard Start?

2011 2500 4x4 Cummins Auto Laramie. About 13,500 on the ticker now, could swear that the truck is taking longer, and longer to start everytime we get in it. Could be just me, but even the finacee asked me about it, gotta be something up. Haven't gone after the fuel filter yet, but will probably start there. Can't imagine having a leaky injector with that low miles, but gotta wonder. No lights on the dash, but another thing I noticed is that the oil change light is on again, only been about 3,000 miles. I talked to the tech last time they changed the oil, he told me specfically that he reset the oil sensor.

I checked the oil, can't smell any fuel, but it does seem to be higher than normal. I'm going to check it in the morning after the truck has sat all night. Any body had any symtoms like this yet?. Truck is under warranty of course, but we are getting the itch to do the deletes and a tuner to help with pulling the camper and get the MPG's up...

13500 on a fuel filter is pushing your luck and a strong possibility for the cause of hard starting. 3000 miles on an oil change by the DIC is likely, especially for short trips. The fuel dilution in the oil adds up quick and is also the likely cause of your increased oil level.

In the meantime, do yourself a huge favor. Pop your hood and unplug your EGR.

I concur with Pendwald

Change your fuel filter. See if that helps any.

Here is a link to a good write up on unplugging your EGR.

I recomend the fuekl filter also first and cheapest. Your oil is getting dirty through the EGR system putting the exhaust gases back in the systm. Oil builds up soot faster. I deleted mine and have 2000 miles on oil and is not that sooty.

You have any codes come in? My long cranking was caused by a faulty engine crank sensor. Even took the truck in for service, they just reflashed the ecm. Got mad and when to parts department and bought a new crank sensor for $15, been great ever since.

Mine only had 2000km when the crank sensor went. Its is an awful spot on the engine, really really exposed. Just lie on your back as you are going to change oil. Its by the harmonic balancer, take 5min to change out.

hard start

No trouble codes. I will change the fuel filter, and look into unplugging the EGR

Thanks-
