FuelFilter Changing

On my 2002 I changed the engine mounted fuel filter (the only filter) every 15K miles.
On the 2015, do the 2 filters/separator need to be changed together or can the chassis filter/separator go longer? Which, if either, does the message center monitor?
Thanks

I'm 99% certain the dash monitors the back most filter, I say this because there's a senor in there for the water in fuel so I am assuming it is the monitor. The front most filter I cannot seem to find any wires on I'm thinking the lift pumps in the back as well, I change my rear filter every 15k or when the dash says to and I do the front filter every other change. I do this because locally the rear filter is all I can get and I have to order the front from Genos Garage.

DodgeCowboy, thanks for the response. I am at almost 13K miles and dash display say 35% remaining. Wish these things were a little cheaper.

$96 for the pair----shipped

Amazon.com: Dodge Ram 6.7 Liter Diesel Fuel Filter Water Separator Set Mopar OEM: Automotive Amazon.com: Dodge Ram 6.7 Liter Diesel Fuel Filter Water Separator Set Mopar OEM: Automotive

The 2013 & newer RAM / Cummins pickups have the best fuel filtration system ever. I hope no one ever has a fuel related warranty claim....but for those of you that only change one of the two filters every 15k miles, what would you do in the event of a fuel related warranty claim and your service writer asks for proof of adhering to the maintenance schedule????

I'm at 136k miles......and my fuel filters are changed between 13k and 15k religiously---and I'm out of warranty.

These trucks are expensive....just left trying to figure out why some cheap out on fuel filters----especially within warranty.....

I upload all my receipts to thr ram owner Web sight that dodge uses, I have photos of the receipt and the Mopar filter. Do the front filter every other time and no one at the dealer has complained once about it.

How hard is it to prime the filters on the 2015 with keyless start?

I was going to let the dealer change mine, but after finding out what they charge and taking a look at YouTube videos, I ordered both filters for just under a hundred bucks and changed them myself. I figured I just paid myself $150 per hour by doing that. Not bad. The procedure is straight forward. You will need a large strap filter wrench for the chassis filter. For the engine filter, I had to use a 1-1/8" 6 point socket and a long extension and u-joint to get above everything to turn my long torque wrench to break the cap loose. The specs call for the cap to be tightened to 22.5 ft-lbs. Good luck with that. I just tightened it...no leaks. I changed the rear first and primed it 4 times with the key and it started right up, let it run a minute then changed the front and did the same thing. No priming or starting issues at all. Don't forget to oil the seals and reset the fuel filter life counter.

Next time I'm do mine I'm going to use a gallon zip lock bag on the back filter to see if the bath is reduced.

I just checked and I'm down to my last FS43255, has anyone found a decent price for the new FS53000? I drove past the Cummins store today and should have stopped in to ask a price.

Good to know, I was paying just around $50 for the FS43255's at the Cummins store and that's Canadian dollars so the $73 US is over $100 CD.

You will simply have the fob near the truck, push the switch WITHOUT depressing the brake, turn back off after you no longer hear the in-tank pump running, and repeat.....probably 12 times or possibly more.
