Fuel Injection Fluid Exchange

Had my oil changed at the dealership today and they wanted to do a "Fuel Injection Fluid Exchange". They said it cleaned the injectors and throttle body by flushing the fuel system to remove carbon. I am a little confused. How can a fuel flush clean the throttle body? Am I missing something or is this needed?

They will haft to manually clean the throttle body and just add a fuel system cleaner to your fuel tank. I have had it done on my 09 cummins not sure if it really helps but I got high millage and never had any issues.

Just get a bottle of AMSOIL diesel injector clean. Been running it in every tank since new (almost 113K on truck now) and have never had a problem with the injectors. Definitely better and probably cheaper than dealer service.

I run Stanadyne in every tank. Is it much different? Seems to do the Same things, but neither give a lot of detail.

The Stanadyne will help clean, but be more of everything from the injectors and after.
Many shops now have sprayer machines that connect to the inlet side of the egr valve to concentrate and clean the carbon out ahead of the cylinder head.
Blue Chem also makes a fuel additive specifically for this (if you can find it).

How about the Lucas fuel add? It's suppose to keep inject clean and lubricate pump etc... is there any truth to that? This is another one of those things that it depends who you talk to ..... one cummins mech told me never to use any add in the fuel if I want to keep things running the way they should ..... another mech to me the total opposite .... I have been using it however I'm not sure if it all worth it .... anyone has any comments??
