2016 Brand new. Throttle response lags???

Had a 2014 2500 quad cab diesel with the 3:42 rear gears. Now have a 2016 all stock. Essentially same truck.

Off the line, HUGE lag in throttle response. Potentially dangerous!!!

Is this normal? My 2014 didn't do this. Also noticeable during highway driving. Seems like the truck waits for the turbo to spoil and then large burst of power.

Seems like something is wrong. My 2015 doesn't do that.

There is a flash update for that problem see your dealer covered under warranty. REF:

I have the opposite problem with my 2015- leaps off the line like a scalded cat! (kinda' like my 2003 did after I chipped it)

Have you found a way to Permanently turn OFF the traction control?

No, I think I better keep it on for now. Kinda' like training wheels.

You still having that problem with towing trailers on dirt roads at 60 mph and having it kick in?

I gotta' say, just completed a couple of road trips pulling my RV and I really, really like this truck! So capable and comfortable, decent fuel mileage, and more power than I'll ever need. I've been happy with all my CTDs, but this one is looking like my favorite.... so far...

Big Iron, this only applies to vehicles produced prior to April 2016. That is what the dealer told me. My truck is up to date on all the software updates.

Dealer also told me the truck is so new, 1,000 miles. It is learning my driving habits. Sounds like a load of crap to me....

Any other ideas?

I just saw your post. Off topic but my son is not in the oil patch anymore so it's not an issue now, the whole oil thing is almost shutdown here and no improvement in sight, everything is for sale and lots of stuff at the auctions including complete drill rigs. Glad I'm retired but I feel for the younger people as the oil industry effects almost everyone still working. Glad you're enjoying the new truck.

Disappointing!!

Finally had a chance to tow. Loaded car trailer, about 8,000 lbs. No big hills.
Really different then my 2014. Seems the throttle is more on/off. Basically, needing full throttle to accelerate. Even off the line, really demanding a lot of throttle to get moving. Really has to work much harder then the 2014. Also the engine temp. and trans. temp operate at slightly higher temps.

What gives? I have yet to change the oil. I have almost 2,500 miles. Could there be some break in oil, not allowing the motor full power?

Willing to bet, this truck does not make 800 Ft/lbs of torque!

I've had a few with very low mileage some under 1000 miles with MAF sensor problem. Sensor was not setting any codes, I replaced MAF sensor and fixed problem. I would try replacing sensor first. Had three in last month with same issue, MAF sensor fixed problem in all three cases. I confirmed it by swapping sensor in another truck without throttle lag. After putting sensor in that truck it then had throttle lag. No codes were setting in both trucks.

Could you give the part number for a 2015 MAF sensor?
Thanks,

Ed H.

I too am in Southern CA. Do you work for a dealer?

Seems like this may be tough to ask the dealer to investigate... Any tips.

Should be a number on the sensor but I can ask our parts department for the number if you need it.

I just got and early build 3500 and my truck seems sluggish off the line. Has anyone had some real world experience with the TSB flash update improving throttle response. I see it has been suggested but I didn't see if anyone had it done and their thoughts.
