2010-2012 gear ratio
The 2013 truck is a much bet truck the the 2012. I have/had both and the 2013 is hands down a much better rig. The only down side is the adding urea which is not bad. I have the auto with the 3.42 gears and it pulls my 14,000 plus trailer with no problems.
The major downside of the 2013 for me is the inability to delete it.
Doubt you can delete it much longer. No programmers for sale in the states that will let you delete. Unless you already have one, good luck on finding one.
Possible that there are no more valid reasons to delete. With reported mpgs in the high teens, up to 850 ft/lbs of torque, and SCR taking over for much of the EGR duties (resulting in cleaner oil?) I can't think of a reason why I would put my warranty out to pasture and delete, right off the bat anyway.
The 6.7 might have finally come of age.

With a tuner such as the Smarty, I have no qualms about buying used. I've had my '01 for ten years and bought a Smarty S-03 for it. Used it 4 times in all the years I had it. Once to put the tune on the truck, again to pull the tune off the truck to take it in for surgery (just in case they should attempt to reflash or something), another a time to re-tune after the service and finally to remove the tune before selling the truck. It's still in mint "brand-new" condition and looks like it was just opened yesterday. So does the Smarty Jr-67 that I picked up last weekend off a craigslist ad.
I 'SO' disagree with this statement and I understand we all have our own set of circumstances, but ... I have access to several 3500 4x4 Dodge rams used for towing in my business. They all rack up lots of highway miles. The two '13 2500 3:42 auto's I have are always in the shop for something, mostly EGR/exhaust problems....and the dodge dealers are lousy at finding and correctly fixing problems related to codes being set. The '10, '11 and two '12's we run...run flawlessly. Not as good MPG as the '13's but that is offset by the cost of purchasing urea (DEF) for these newer models... now add the aggravation of having to manually add it when you can't find a pump. In addition you can easily get tuning for the '12's and older models which makes a big difference in performance for basically the same drive train....not even mentioning the constant software problems with the GPS units in these newer models... my 2 cents worth!

SO you are correct

bottom of the brochure. 3.42 are for manual or aisin trans only trucks. my buddy who did the auto/manual swap with me is at 145 mph before it shifts to 6th gear and he has 3.42 (his was originally a manual and now an auto 68rfe)

As I understand it...the 3:42's are the only gear set you can get in 2500/6.7 equipped with 68 RFE auto in '13. '13 & '14 you can get the 3:73 and 4:10's and the optional Aisin tranny in the 3500 dually trucks. Not sure about the Aisin in '14 2500's though...

is allegedly open only half as much (10% vs. 20% of the time) under normal driving conditions, so maybe that's why they doubled the oil change interval?
