Got to drive an '07 5500 today!

My work truck was down today and I needed a truck with a liftgate for some cylinder deliveries, so I got to borrow one of the propane service trucks from one of our other locations. It's an '07 5500 4X4 with the 6.7 and the automatic. Really nice running truck, I loved how the trans and VGT turbo brake setup worked to hold the truck back on the hills. It had plenty of power, I had no need to floor it - but I did it a couple times anyway just to see how it ran. I reset the overhead before I started out and averaged 13.4 mpg for the day, pretty good I thought. Gross weight was probably 10k.

We've also got an '06 F550 4X4 with the 6.0/auto, and I've had the opportunity to drive it a few times. NO COMPARISON! At 70 mph the Cummins just loafs along effortlessly where the 6.0 screams. You have to really romp on the 6.0 to get it to move, seems like the Cummins only needs about half pedal. They both do the job but the 6.0 seems to be working a lot harder.

Where I used to work we had a F550 stakebed w/ the 6 oh no. That thing would get up a move if you floored it, but it did make alot of noise. Plus the thing would lung forward while stopped in Drive at intersections, and the engine idle would become eratic. Something was wrong with that thing. I would love to drive one of those new Dodge Cab and Chassis.
