My truck actually CAME with the factory cover and everything. I may install it today seeing as the temps are getting colder, and my truck isn't getting up to operating temp fast enough for me.

Here's a question, though. Undoubtedly, this will affect the cooling capacity of the system in a negative way. How will this change the truck's ability to tow heavy loads, etc. IOW, should I leave it on for around-town and then take it off when I'm doing towing?

I've got the Cabela's winter front - summer bug shield combination. Same snaps are used for both and they're easy to install. If you're worried about the ugly snaps when the winter front is off, just put the bug shield on. I've been running with the winter front (windows open) and it makes a big difference to warm up as temps are consistently below freezing now. I'll close the shutters once temps get near zero F.

Yes, that is the dodge one (Mopar). It wraps top to bottom.

I looked at others like Cabela's etc... they didn't fit snug and were on the outside of the grill and well, that's not what I wanted.

Heck ... I still don't get to full operating temperature on my work commute but it certainly helps get the needle moving quicker! I haven't needed to open a flap yet.

 

I just installed my mopar one last night. I fit extremely snug over the banks intercooler as it is a little thicker than the stocker but it fits great!!! I started with all flaps open and towed about 12k for 50 miles while unloading I closed the top flap since it wasn't getting too hot and went about my day. I kept good heat but didn't get overly hot either. 210 or so was the hottest I saw all day. It was in the high 30's here today.
I think this is the way to go!!!!!!!!!

 

I just installed the DC winterfront kit ($160 Canadian) but its a SWEET set up!
Easy to install, adjustable flaps, no snaps or crappy plastic stuff stuck to your grille, its awesome and works great, couldn't be happier (unless it was cheaper.........)

 

I use the Lund as well. I had it painted silver and it looks pretty sharp on the sport front end but I think the Mopar piece would be much more effective. I just may get one of those too.

 

I have the Dodge one. Was like 95 bucks and change.

Where did you hook them elastic straps to on the bottom? I couldn't find a good spot... and the little clips on the side flaps... Did it in the dark and cold last night with a flashlight. Couldn;t see where to put bottom straps.

Ordered my DC winter front today from dodgeparts.com....They are on backorder again, but should ship out Weds the 23rd....

I called 2 local dealers, neither had one in stock...The first didnt have a clue what I was talking about, and the second tried to convince me that my thermostat was stuck open I hung up on him

dodgeparts.com seems to be having problems with their online ordering system...I couldnt get the order to process, so if anyon wants to order from there, you may just try calling them

 

I usually don't tout the dealer for anything but the DC winter front is the best way to go... Fits great , no drilling and adjustable for the amount of airflow you want. It is worth 119.00 or whatever it costs. Really helps warm the thing up in 30 deg and below temps.....
