Window tint self install Q
Window tint self install Q
Hey guys. I bought the precut window tint off Ebay. I have a question.
First off, I have never done a window tint install before.
While i was looking at the tint, I noticed that there was a clear backing on the adhesive side. I assume I have to peal this off prior to placing on the window. The directions i received with the tint makes no mention of this.
My only other guess is that this clear film will dissolve when I spray the water/soap onto the glass.
Any suggestions?
TIA

yeah you have to remove the clear film to expose the adhesive side, make sure you use plenty of soapy water so you can move it around and get it placed on the window just right, then squeege away, if you have really bad bubbles that the squeege wont take out you might use a heat gun but be careful and use low heat and dont put it too close to the film.

You MUST remove the clear plastic. Make sure to keep the tint wet with the soap water. If it touches itself and is dry you will have to throw it away!
I used to tint windows when I was younger and bought some precut from eBay also. Good quality stuff but I ended up with a crease I could not work out. I will probably take it off and have it done by the pros.

When you peel it off, spray it with soapy water the whole time, and on your hands also. Be sure to use lots of soapy water(or that tinton stuff from walmart).
I bought some precut stuff from ebay, and it is alright, but I did get some creases in it, and will probably have the front redone by a professional tint shop.
Oh yeah, another tip-dont put it on in direct sun, it is too warm for it and will dry up the soapy water, and cause it to stick to the window too quickly, and when you are re-arranging it, it will tear. Did this to my front drivers side window.
