Will 09 Center Console Swap With 06 ?

I just got my 09 Megacab yesterday. I like the floor mounted center console on my 06 Megacab better than the flip down one on the 09. I also like the rear heater ducts on the 06. Can I swap the two set-ups while I still have the 06? Is it a major hassle?
Thanx, Mike.

It will swap over and isn't more than a couple of hours of wrench turning. The swap is pretty self explanitory as you start taking things apart, though running the ductwork for the rear A/C vents will require taking apart the dash a bit and may be more hassle than it's worth (i've read many reports of those who have have trucks with and without rear A/C vents and have reported no appreciable change in rear cab air temperature). As long as the interior colors are the same, go for it.

OK. Thanx for the info. I mostly just want the console so maybe I'll just swap that out. Mike

theres a flapper in the HVAC that diverts more air to the rear vents

my dealer ripped mine out, because the HVAC would not blow on my feet.

the Dodge HVAC is a piece of _ _ _ _

older years consoles (non mega's) will not fit into megas without some cutting. but they will go in there

Im looking into doing the same sort of thing... My truck isnt a mega but im wanting to take out the middle seat/fold down center console and put in a real center console. I havent looked at the inside of the mega's but i take it you removed a seat? Anywhere you can order the console from of just start looking for wrecked trucks and hope to find one the correct color? Thanks

It is and easy sway to do. If you have the flip down cup holders you will need to get 2 bezels one lower and one upper. The lower is the important one as it covers up the edges of the bigger console. You can live without the other one except you will lose pens, coins and other stuff that makes its way back there. Only one hole to drill unless you have the little floor console then its a direct swap. On my last truck I got mine from ebay. But there are many totaled laramie trucks out there in the bone yards.

I swapped my center jump seat out and installed the console. It was a really easy job. There are 4 bolts that hold the center seat in place, the consoles bolts fit right in to the same holes. It is easier to unbolt both the front and back bolts that hold the entire seat assembly - left, center, right seats, then tilt the assembly up to get to the rear console bolts, tilt back to get to the front ones. The ductwork is not fastened down anywhere along the floor, the pieces slip inside/outside of each other. Took me about an hour to change it over. I still have the center floor piece to mod, I put a flat paned on the front of the console, mounted my CB radio there for now. The cupholders were not important enough to me to screw with the center floor piece right away. The elect-12v plug for the aux outlet also is a direct plug in, the bottom storage area now will have a light as well.

Hey CD,

Would you mind posting a few pictures when you get a chance? I'd like to see how it looks with the G56 and without the center floor piece. Would also be interested to know how you plan to modify the center floor piece for your shifter, whether you plan to go the same route as Pooter posted pictures of earlier or if you have anything different in mind.

Hey BroncoHound.

I don't have one of those photobucket accounts, so I cannot post a pic BUT if you have an account I can e-mail you some pics and you could post them here. I have different plans for modding the center piece, so for now, I am just using the console with a plate I made to monut my CB. I may leave it the way I have it now?? not sure, but if I also install the center piece, I am putting the two cupholder into it instead of the storage box.

PM me with you e-mail addy and I'll send you the pics.

Here are the pictures of CD's console and CB mount, along with his descriptions of each photo:

I really like the way this looks. My only real hiccup with it though is that I would lose my Cup Smoothie that is attached to my current drop down center seat. Cup holders aren't that big an issue I realize, but I tend to use the heck out of them and the cup holders on the mini floor console have always aggrevated me. I might have to swap the entire setup so I can have the cup holders from the full console which are higher from the floorboard and thus easier to use than the ones on the mini floor console.

Anyway, thanks for the pictures CD. You've given me some great ideas.

Thanks for the info and replies. Do you guys know what years i can use to fit the 09 2500. Cant seam to find any on fleebay... did find a ford that looks like it could work. At work right now in West Virginia but might hit the grave yards when i get home. Worst part about it is that the dealer told me that they can not order the trucks as a 5 seats and that the console is only available in the 08 resistol and mega's.... what a crock. I was in a pinch for a truck and they only had one crew cab long bed laramie in the state at the time so ill just have to make due

2006-2009. You can go to mydodgeparts.com and search and order the whole assembly, so your dealer is wrong. But that is a pricey way to get it. Keep searching craiglist and ebay daily.

There was someone on craigslist (dallas) that had a full console setup for $500 I believe, the console and the trim/front console that connects to the dash...
