wierd CB stuff

so on the way home tonight from MN, I had the radio on, it was really windy, and I was getting a lot of static, but still everything was normal. but then about every minute, minute and 15 seconds, I would get a loud and long static hit....it was like clockwork.

so after some playin around I found it was the cruise control. I hadnt noticed it on the way up because I didnt use cruise. I had just picked up a lil wilson mag mount and routed the cable in the rear window, then to drivers right, along the door jam, and under passenger seat, under center console storage then to the radio. the previous routing was kept all on drivers side, and under drivers seat to the radio, but I thought this time I would keep the coax away from the electic seat wires (I figured there might be some RF problems or something).

so the question is, was this issue a routing problem? or antenna? I didnt have the problem with the old one (lame radio shack antenna).

Cant help you. The only wierd stuff I hear is at two in the morning when some truckers get irritated at each other. I am also using a mag roof mount (not a Wilson) with the wire going to the right of the drivers seat than out the rear window and havent had your problem. If you figure it out let us know.

With checking the ground might also want to consider adding a filtering capacitor to the 12v power input to the CB radio.

I worded that poorly. it was every minute or so that I would get the pulse. and only with the cruise on. if it was off, everything was normal.

I am gonna check the ground today, and check placement of the antenna as well. I still have some fine tuning to do anyway.

Sometimes the magnetic ones don't ground properly too.....get a good grinder and get all that nasty paint off the spot where you want it mounted. JK Also make sure the coax connections are good to....some coax, the cheaper stuff has a low shield rating, look for a mil. spec coax of 98% shield.
Good luck.

A 12v ground loop isolator will quiet it down. Also depends on power source or wires it might be routed around.
