why was the 03 shop manual taken off...
Re:why was the 03 shop manual taken off...
I bet you can still get it over on TDR if it hasn't been pulled there too. The link on this site was a link to a post on TDR (which contained the link to the download).
Anyone allowing that link to be posted on their site is opening themself up to possible legal troubles due to copyright laws. That's why it was pulled.
BIGCUMMINZ....I sent you a PM.

Yep, it was pulled do to the infringement on copyright laws. The guy who posted that at TDR is leaving himself open to prosecution for illegally distributing the product.

The way he keeps updating and promoting the post, it almost seems as if he is a little upset with DC over something. Just my $0.02.

I totally understand the logic behind removing the post since it is Copyrighted material.
On the other hand, you would think that something like this would be provided to you at no extra charge by DC when you buy a $40K+ truck. Some people like to do their own maintenance and this shop manual makes for a lot less guesswork.

True...except that by having that manual many people who would have taken their truck to Dodge for service will now do it themselves and save the money. Wouldn't make much sense for Dodge to make it easy for everyone to do their own work...

Dunno about that. If you are mechanically inclined you will buy a manual and do the work yourself anyway. 100 bucks for a manual will quickly be paid for. If you are a fumbler with tools than PLEASE stay away from your maintenance and get professional help.....
OTOH if a manual were included with the purchase of a truck then us technicians (or used to be ones) would get a whole lot less stupid questions by the uninformed customers.
(ie: 3 of my windows stopped working.
Did you check the window lock switch?? Blank stare from customer. Walk to vehicle, open door, push switch and watch the 3 windows start to work. It happens more than you think.)

I made it part of the deal when I bought my truck. The dealer had to give me the paper version at dealer cost AND have it in the truck when I took delivery. It was.
Whatever vehicle I own, I always buy the paper version of the shop manual. It has saved me a bundle and the manual costs have been recouped many times.

I prefer the electronic version. I can print off what I need and toss when finished. A big plus is having it on my laptop. Having the road atlas and shop manual on the laptop I'm all set for trips.
