Wheels....again
Ok I have searched but can't find what I am looking for. I have read the article before with a nice diagram of the factory wheel specs for the 06 trucks. I am wanting to purchase new wheels, most likely 17's maybe 18's. I think they are plenty of rim for the truck plus i don't want to jack with the ride height as i am also pleased with that. The most i would want to consider is a leveling kit, but that is only if i need to. Does anyone know the specs of hte factroy wheel including offset and backspacing? The last truck i put wheels on was a PIA bc of hte same issues. I called a few local wheel places and they would not even talk to me unless i was buying wheel from them with a $100 plus premium. The question steems from my post a few days ago....https://www.dieseltruckresource.com/...d.php?t=131385.
Thanks !
Thanks !

I dont have the answer but there was another post a couple of days ago where someone bought 17's and they would not fit because they hit the calipers. I am considering wheels/tires as well but it sure would be nice to try some one (like sneakers) before dropping $2,000 on them.

I do not believe that the 06 Dodge factory wheels are any different in backspacing and offset from the 04 or 05 wheels. I sold the 06 alloys I had so I don't have any to measure. So I can't prove it.
I can't remember for sure the exact specs for the 04 Dodge OEM alloy wheels or chrome clad wheels, but I believe that it is 6.15" backspacing and +42mm offset. If that is not exact it is very, very close.
I have had 5 different sets of Dodge OEM wheels, 3 alloys and 2 chrome clad steel for years 03, 04, 05 and 06. I did not see any difference in them on or off the truck. A small backspacing or offset change on 06 wheels should not make 03-05 not fit from what I have seen. Just my experience.
ON EDIT: I have seen after market 17s that would not clear the calipers and most that are not close to same backspacing and offset will need more lift to keep from rubbing on anything over 33s.
