Wheel Simulators Rusting!!!

Im not sure whats going on but these things are rusting fast. Anyone else had this problem?

Mine have green rot on them and the chrome is flacking off of the plastic backing. My old 98 had metal ones that still shone like new last year when I changed to a newer model,which I'm thinking was a mistake. It would seem that with every new year dodge skimps just a bit more on quality and raises the price just a tad more.

Road salt kills them. Happened to my 2004. Tried to find replacements. None available except OEM factory and they are very expensive. No aftermarket ones available.

I wonder if a person could have them re chromed for a lot less than OEM cost
