Wheel fitment and backspacing

In theory and correct me if I am wrong but shouldn't a 35 x 12.50 x 20 be the same diameter and fit the same way a 35 x 12.50 x 17 fits? My main thought is if I find a 20 in wheel with the same backspacing as the stock wheels I should be able to clear them since I can clear the 35 X 12.50 X 17 now. Does this sound right?

TIA

Kip.

sounds logical to me as long as you have the same backspacing

Isnt the backspacing on the factory wheel about 25-30 mm?

I think that number your referring too is the positive offset. Backspacing stock is around 6.1 - 6.2".

As I understand it, the stock wheels have a + 43.2 mm offset and 6 1/2" of backspacing.

Stock alloy wheels are 17x8 with 6.25" backspacing. I measured mine last week.

In theory if you stick with the same width and backspacing wheel, the 20's should fit no problem.

Centerline makes a 20x8.5 with 6" backspacing, that combo would stick out 3/4" more than stock. Many guys around here run the H2 wheels which are 17x8.5 with 5.5" backspacing and 35's with very little to no clearance issues. H2 wheels stick out 1.25" more than stock

Not sure what style your looking for, but they have overstock of this style wheel in the 20x8.5 6" backspacing. Check the website.

Maybe consider going with a little less bs so it doesn't hit the control arms?

Something worth considering if you're going with a 9 inch wide wheel.

But your original question, 17, 18, 20 backspacing rules are gonna be pretty standard between them.... Same rules of thumb.

I'd love to have a set of those with either some LT35x12.50R20 Cooper STT's or some LT35x13.50R20 Cooper STT's on the Blue Bus !

The 6" backspacing should be just about OEM.......even with the 8.5" rim.

maybe Jesse James Lawless but the backspacing is wrong.
The new KMC Spy.. pimp but wrong backspacing
KMC Diesel.. not bad, wrong back spacing
Diamo 17 Karat!! very nice.. Oh what do you know, Wrong backspacing

There are a few nice wheels with the correct backspacing of 6" + but they are all on back order and Im pleading the 5th until I can get my hands on some.

Face it everyone. Wheels in this lug are mostly made for the H2s. thats were the money is at. This leaves us with a bunch of wheels that stick out

I like 'em James. They're a classic design.
