We have an 05 and a brand new 06. I really like them both, the 06 is a dually(2WD) with an auto trans, and the 05 is a SRW(4x4) with a 6 speed. They both have cold air (I also live in the Alabama heat!) and both run out strong and pull the same loads at virtually the same mileage. We are making a trip to Houston pulling a 30ft enclosed car hauler tomorrow and I will let you know how we fair mileage wise on the 06. This will be the first trip in it with the enclosed trailer, we have made a few with open car haulers but enclosed is a whole nother ballgame for MPG issues. I expect to be around 15-16 MPG but the truck is new so it could be lower till she breaks in. We have had NO issues on the 06 yet, the 05 needs to go to a dealer soon as I have a squeaky clutch pedal (which could be a bad slave cyl.) and it starts hard on a regular basis these days. Both are probably an easy fix but we will soon find out. I will tell you after driving the g56 truck for a while now, I kinda wish I had an auto like the 06 has.

I've got 18K miles on my 06 with no problems. Getting about 15 mpg with mixed driving, about 18 mpg on the highway and about 11 mpg towing my 5th-wheel camper which weighs approxmately 13K pounds. Fuel mileage increased significantly at about 25k miles on my 05 truck. Hopefully, the same thing will happen with the 06 truck.

I have an 06 bought in last dec. and the thing never has started like it should, hot, cold it doesn't matter. It runs great otherwise, but pretty embarassing when it never starts on the first try, especially when i used to drive ford and all my buddies give me a lot of crap anyhow. Had it to dealer twice no fix, going back sept 6, seems to be no fix. Also squeeky clutch petal and the thing rattles and squeks like it's got 100k on it. These trucks sure aren't built like ford, but so far runs much better and gets the job done!

Thanks guys for your comments. SO employee pricing is going to last longer than Aug 31st and with additional incentives? What about 0% financing? That would make my decision that much sweater.

I bought my 03 qc lb 5spd (obviously from my user name, lol) after owning a 99 powerstroke cc lb auto. I love it just as much as i've loved all of my trucks. I am glad that I owned a brand other than Dodge before buying my Cummins. It keeps me from being just another "cocky Cummins guy" that everyone thought I would turn into. But I know from experience that Ford builds a high quality truck and the 7.3 is a proven awesome engine and it's to bad Ford couldn't keep it around. I miss the extra 6 or 8 inches of cab space though. I wish Dodge would have done it right the first time and made a true crew cab instead of the 5/8 deal they debuted for 02 and 03hd lines. I love the megacab, would love to have one....BUT I think it's a little overdone on the room.....like I said, should've done it the first time. Plus I need an 8 foot bed. I'd say if you're happy with what you have just keep it, unless you just want to get something else or newer which is the reason I bought my Dodge. I didn't "convert" or anything, I just tried something new. If Chevy ever offers a larger more HD looking truck with a straight axle i'd glady buy a duramax. Also I don't see how some 7.3 owners arrive at 23 mpg in a 7.3. I'd believe 20 maybe 21, much more than that i'd have to see for myself. Getting low of 18-19 and 22-24.5 (according to overhead) in my 03 Ram. Hand calculations come out slightly less around 17-18 and 21-22.5, and i've hand calculated a little over 24 a couple of times. But I don't like to drive like a granny all the time!

diggin' it!

16,620 miles on my 06' and still diggin' it! Only problem I've had was a leaky rear axle seal (left) @14k miles. No biggie - dealer handled it. This is my first Dodge and was skeptical about switching brands (been bow-tie forever!) Best truck out there for durability and "bang for buck" dept. Another note...my service truck is a 05' F450 with the 6.0 and it does **** good for a dually 2x4, crane, welder, svc. box, chassis cab @15k lbs.......I can't complain about the Ford yet....I'm sure its coming though.
