I am not sure if this is the right thread, but here we go. This is my first diesel so I have alot to learn. What is the deal with adding 2 cycle oil to the gas. I took the advice and have been adding power service to every tank. Is the 2 cycle safe for an 06, I think it would be cheaper than power service, what is the deal. It all has me confused, I would of never put anything in my gasser except maybe so Heet or octane boost. Help I am confusaed.

 

People adding oil to the fuel are trying to improve the lubricity so as to help their injection pump (which uses diesel fuel for lubrication) live longer. The reason to use 2 stroke oil vs. regular oil is that the 2 stroke stuff is designed to burn , and won't leave ash deposits in your cylinder, and thus your engine oil.
