Question What can the dealer really order???

I'm looking at the '08s and the sales guy at my dealership is telling me that all they can order are the trim packages as they exist in the sales brochure - no mixing and matching of options is possible. I understand why Dodge bundles packages for ease of manufacturing, but it would seem like a custom order could be custom built without too much trouble, afterall once I order it they are building it specific for my order anyway aren't they? So is it really not possible to order a truck with a rubber floor and leather seats? or with no badges? or is it just too hard for the dealer to work it out?

if you pushed hard enough you could probably get the dealership body shop or detail guys to debadge your truck... but I spent an entire saturday debadging, stripping adhesive & washing & waxing... YOU SHOULD TOO!!

You must not be working with a large enough dealer. The dealer can order whatever they want as long as they are big enough. I know a guy back home that has the first and last C4 Corvette (if I remember the model correctly). He had to go through a huge dealer to get them, but he has them and they have very, very few miles on them.

My cousin ordered his 06 the way he wanted it.. he orders very odd trucks.. Reg cab, rubber floors, work grills, no ac, no power windows but power door locks and key fobs, one of his trucks he even put in an AM radio.. Like I said .. odd trucks but it is what he wants...

His 06 he ordered pretty basic except for the Big horn package (real good deal) and then put on roof lights.. Now he is the parts manager for a large dealer so maybe that had something to do with it...

Have you gone to the Dodge web site where you can build your truck? Not sure if they still have that. Might be worth a try.

the 07 emblems are the biggest ugliest things i've ever seen stuck on a truck from the facotry... IMO

i took everything off except the the C's on the front fenders & the 4x4 on the tailgate... much better

dealers cannont order trim packages that do not exist.....

such as the rubber floors-leather seats.....that does not exist....

trim packages....SL, SLT, LARAMIE..........have specific levels within these trim designations.....where you can customize a little.....like on audio options...sunroof and whatnot....but most trim levels have "packages".....

to my knowledge...the manufacturer will not "custom" make a vehicle....

I have worked for Nissan for 20 years and I know they have never catered to custom orders of any kind.....

Yes he is the one with the museum. I think he has 50 or so in there. Mike Yager is his name, he owns Mid America Corvette (or whatever he calles it now). They sell aftermarket parts for Corvette, Bug, and Porsche (sp). He is not my buddy, I wish he was, he is just a guy that I know from back home.

Thumbs down

I also tried to order the rubber flooring with my leather ... not possible. I agree it doesn't make sense. What's the big deal.
I've ordered my last 3 trucks and you can ONLY choose from options available in the book.
Looks like now I can't even order a Reg Cab Laramie anymore ... that sucks
