what are all the "bolt-on modifications," without a Box?

had a box on my 04, ending up having to trade it in due to problems.

so got the 06, no box for me. per the wife

but i did put on a DIY cranksensor,

someone GAVE me a boost fooler (hey, you gotta run free stuff, right?)

cut some holes in the airbox (i gave away my K&N FIPK because i got tired of monkeying with oiling it properly)

gonna get a muffler delete pipe for the S curve, and a small muffler, keep the Cat, and the 06 resonator, should be quite and flow.

what else kind of stuff is there, besides injectors and pumps (trying to stay in that warranty) that will give marginal gains?

just simple plug & play stuff, ??

getting 17mpg around town, 18.5 @ 80mph, but got only 9 towing a 24 foot (mostly empty) and it had no OOMPH above 70 mph with the trailer, i could barely pass Semi's

the 04 would still move on OUT with the 24 foot trailer on it
(when it had the Box, K&N, a straitpipe, and cranksensor )

do you HAVE to have a box to tow heavy?

hearing good things about them, and Marco has helped me once BIGTIME in the past.

but, i killed my 04 with a downloader, and it stranded me.

and i gave away a "interceptor" style box, and the guy i gave it too had it flake out on him, and left him stranded

what i really want, is something, if it dies, i can unplug it all in ~30 minutes, roll it up to the dealership, and the DRB3 still recognize the ECM and the Dodge techs be able to fix it without having to call STAR to see what i done

the warranty isn't that big a deal - it's as reliable as a tractor motor,

the problem was when i bungled the motor & ECM to where the DRBIII could not properly talk to the ECM to troubleshoot the failure.

in other words, won't monkey with the ECM again.

want a few more HP, but 100% reliable.
problem is, i think most of the HP is in the ECM programming...

A box like one of the Quad boxes or others (IE not a programmer) can be unhooked in 5 min or less and does not mess with the ECM. It changes signals to the ECM but the ECM still does it's job as normal (kind of).

True. And the Smarty is not detectable by the dealer after you return it to stock. To do this you just plug it in, return it to stock, and unplug it. Just do this before driving or towing to dealer.

I do see what you mean though. I am kind of in the same boat. I like the Smarty but not too sure if I want to mess with the ECM.

Seems most electronic performance sorces has had a horror story. Makes a person kind of sceptical that you won't be the next one. Had one on my 04.5 and it had quirks about it I didn't care for.

Amsoil EaAU filters are dry, nano-fiber, no K&N oil to worry about!

If ita an auto get a VB and TC in it. That will make a huge difference. I just did my VB and the truck feels like I added 30 HP.

I agree with Syndicate on the VB and TC, although I haven't done it yet. I am saving for the full blown billet trans.

I am also another vote for the Smarty. I guess it is possible to "mess up" your truck with a Smarty, but highly unlikely.

If they even knew they were there they will only void the warranty of the TC and trans which wont really be an issue doe to the fact that the new parts will have their own warranty.
