Weld Wheel's

Two questions:

1- Is it safe to use the factory lug nuts with these wheels? I called Weld & the lady that answered wasn't sure. I left a message for Kent at KORE but haven't heard back from him.

2- Does anyone have a set of locking wheel lug nuts that they would recommend?

I have the Weld's from KORE, and love them. At Kent's suggestion, I went to my local (America's Tire Store) tire/wheel store and ordered the Gorilla lug nuts. They're a special design to prevent theft. I orderd a couple extra and got an additional key, just in case. Very tough, and make the wheel look nicer.

I can try to find my paperwork for the exact part # if you need it. But most shops should be able to get you the right ones. Hope this helps.

Tony - Thanks for the info. I called Gorilla & they don't have a guide for 03' or 04' vehicles. I'll give Discount tire a call tomorrow to see if they can help, but you never know with those guys. If you have the part number handy that would be great.

Sorry it took so long. Here's the info off the America's Tire sheet...

When I ordered, they're described thusly...
Code 80099, 9/16" XL Acorn Lug, Lug Part #76198XLHT

and two days later when I picked them up...
Code 81739, 9/16" Long ACRN BLGE, 13/16" HEX 91198XLHT

The locks were:
Code 81734, 13/16 - 7/8" SD, PT# 1378SD-Key

Locks were $3.50 each ( I bought 2), and they gave me the lugs for $.50 each. I'm a pretty good customer and they gave me a break on 35 of the lugs...

Hope this helps.

Goggleyed,

What did your wheels cost? Last time I called, they were $500 ea. Any change in the price?

They were $435 each, plus shipping, plus CA tax. So it ran just over $2400 for 5 wheels. I believe the price on the website is $500, but if you're a member of the diesel forums, Kent knocks 'em down a bit. Best to check with him. But I have no regrets. Those wheels and the Toyos will last a long time and take a real beating.

Thanks for looking up those part numbers. I ended up with:
Code 40248, LT325/65R18 Terra Grappler AT at $274.99 each (installed w. Warr)
Code 80099, 9/16" XL Acorn lugs (part# 76198XLHT) at $1 each.
Code 80195, 9/16" Rt Hand locking lugs (part # 76691N) at $4.25 each.

These were from Discount Tire here in Orlando.

Localnet- I paid the same as Tpuig per wheel but I went with AT Tires. I spend 95% of my time on the road so the AT was a better fit.
