WARNING - Costco Floormats

Well, Costco had these great high-quality, thick, floor mats for just $20.00. The mats are super thick and worked great, except....

I was about to pull-on the highway, so I dropped the pedal to the floor. After the 2-3 shift, I lifted my foot and low and behold, it is still at WOT!

I was freaking out. I pressed the brakes but there was no slowing down the truck when its at WOT. I didn't know what was going on. I was about to throw it in NEUTRAL and then I hard the pedal pop-up. Well, after I stopped, I looked underneath the pedal and the floor mat stuck the pedal. So what happened was, when I mashed it, the pedal got wedged in the floor mat and was stuck there.

Luckily, this was on an open highway. I will make sure this DOES NOT happen again. I just wanted to warn others about this. A typical flimsy floor mat would not have done this as they are thin and could not hold down the fuel pedal. The Costco mat is mega thick and it could and did.

BEWARE!

Same thing happened to me with the Costco mat. I cut out a slot in it for the acc pedal, but it happened again several weeks later. I threw the driver mat away but use the 3 others for the passengers.

My factory mats have a hole in them where a little prong thingy sticks through to hold the mat in place. If yours has the prong, could you cut a whole in the mat?

The same thing happened to me on about 4 occassions. Same mats too! Finally figured out what was going on (I know, I'm a bit slow). Glad I'm not the only one that thought there was something bigger going on there...
