Voltage up and down at start-up in cold.
Voltage up and down at start-up in cold.
Hi guys.....
My 2006 CTD I have noticed upon cold start up the voltage meter drops under 14 and then goes back up to 15 or more for the first 3 minutes or so. When it does this the lights dim a bit and the heater motor speeds down and speeds up. Obviously there is something cycling on and off drawing alot of power. Happens a good 10 times or so before the volt meter rests in normal position. What is it and is it normal? Anyone know? I hope its not a sign of an alternator going south or something....When I mean cold weather Im talking below 20 degrees....
Thanks
