VIN sticker on drivers door

Some of you may remember I had a deer hit the drivers side of my truck a feww weeks ago. Had to replace the doors due to the accident. My vin sticker is gone, of course, and the dealer says I can't get a new one. What's up with that? Does anyone know if this is true, or does the dealer just not know?
Thanks.

Yep, they are correct. Don't know the reason why, especially if you can produce proper documentation. Being that I do this everyday, I've never gotten a better reason than NO.

However, if the vehicle is ever sold or titled in another stated, in order to have a VIN check complete, there has to be two visible VIN check inspection points.

One is obviously the public view plate on the dash and the other is the federal inspection sticker on the door jam or the door itself.

Almost every vehicle I have ever bought was from a different state. Thus, Indiana requires a vin check by either a LEO, or a DMV employee. I have bought everything from trailers, campers, cars and trucks - heck even a 4 wheeler, NEVER had to have 2 vin check points. There are very few that HAVE 2 check points. As long as the vehicle's vin and info listed on the title under description matches the actual vehicles vin, you'll be fine.

Every frame is stamped as well on the back section above the axle facing the ground. Only the last seven digits, but easy to verify. You won't find many that have complete frames switched out. Slide under to see. Stampings are 1/2" tall maybe 3-4" long.

Brain fart, you are correct.

Salvage titles vehicle are only required to have 2 VIN locations; ie the public view VIN plate and the federal sticker.

New titles or state transfers are still only the public view VIN.

I have not worked a day shift in a few months, thankfully......
