Various '04 Questions......

Hello, this is my first post, so please go easy!

I am looking to buy a 2004 Dodge Ram 4DR Crew Cab Short Bed, SLT 2400
4x4, with the I-6 24V CTD

I was thinking about getting a 2500 with the Hemi, but I think with a truck this large and heavy, I would regret not having a proven diesel motor, to help with both the power, durability, and possibly even better gas mileage.

The saleman stated it's build date is June 15, 2004. SO, I would guess this would possibly be a 325 hp motor, and not the 'early' 2004 305 hp motor? Is there a positive way to check which motor is it? Is the motor actually marked "325".

Anyways, it has power everything, rear slider, Snow Plow prep, fog lamps, rear Anti-Spin with 3.73 gears.

32,200 miles......they are asking $27,995

It is blue over gray/silver, with dark gray interior.

Anything I should check over and look at more closely? Thanks for any and all info.........I am looking forward to buying my first CTD truck and being a member on this site!

It will say 325 on the side of the valve cover.

My 2004.5 had a vibration issue around 65mph. I also had to replace a front axle u-joint.

Be sure to check the A/C on both sides (in both fresh and recirc mode).

Check under the truck. The 04.5 has a catalytic converter, the 04 does not. I believe the 04.5 started with a build date after Jan. 04.

I paid 23.5K for my 04.5, same specs except the 6 speed with 30000 miles on it about a year and a half ago. Sounds like a decent truck but too much money.
