Unhappy with Ac

I have owned the Duramax... The Power Stroke and now the Dodge.

I have never had not even the smallest problem with the Chevy or Ford.

I have never been a Mopar fan, But... I decided to give it a try because the price was VERY right.

I bought a 2006 Mega cab a couple months ago. It was a new left over and I got a great deal.

To my suprise, I really like the truck... I have already put over 4k on it.

A couple times last week my AC stopped blowing cold air. About an hour later it started working again. Yesterday it stopped working period.... Just blows out warm air....... What gives?

My wife owned a Sebring Conv a few years ago and we were PLAGUED with electrical gremlins.... That was traded on a Grand Cherokee... Again electric problems ... Is this the norm with Mopar? I refuse to own another vehicle that I have to constantly chase elec. problems..... Let me know now and I will bale out of this thing and never own another mopar product so fast it will make your head spin.

Frustrated in SC

Welcome to the website!

Sorry to hear of your problems with your Dodge CTD CR Mega Cab Truck!

FWIW, I have owned the Dodge CTD Pickup Trucks since 1992. I have NEVER had any of the problems you describe either on your truck or your wife's car.
In fact, I have never had any electrical problems with any of my Dodge CTD Pickups period. My current rides (1996 Dodge CTD 12 valve) has almost 260,000 total miles on it and my newer 2006 Dodge CTD CR only about 13,000
now, but no problems at all. IMO, with the onset of all the electrical control on these trucks, we are probably going to see more types of problems like you describe. The trucks and cars are definitely getting more complicated!

I sincerely hope you get everything worked out on your truck.
Again, welcome aboard!

I wouldn't unload your Dodge just because of a A/C problem.

It's probably no big deal and even if it is don't worry about it. Just take it to your dealer and have them fix it. That's what a warranty is for. I have had trouble with many of the new vehicles I've purchased. I have had 2 Ferd super dutys and both of them were in the shop many times for different reasons. Once they get the bugs out of them it's usually down hill from there. (it better be if you have that new 6.4)

Relax and just get it fixed and put it behind you man!

Hi, I have a MC, but with Hemi. I bought it last july and was not happy with the AC, since it would take a long time to cool the cab. I went to the dealer and the recharged the system as it was actualy overcharged from the factory (that's what tech said). At the same time some filter element of the AC system failed and lost the AC all together. I went back and they replaced it within an hour. In general people are not too happy withe the AC performance in Megacabs. They blame it on the fact that they used same size system as in Quadcab for much bigger megacab. Other than that the truck is trouble free and I already got 14000 miles.

These things have problems with the various doors inside the A/C housing. They will fix it under warranty...But the down side is that the dash has to come out to do it. I would also have them check the charging of the A/C system

Sure sounds like a leak in your case. There have also been many probs with AC doors , actuators & the fact that the dealers underfill the system most times.

Last summer I had the exact same issue. I took it in and they recharged the A/C, thus fixing the problem. I also had them replace the blend door, been working fine ever since.

I've had an 04 RAM 1500 & now my 06 mega and the AC can chill you to the bone. Even in the Texas summer weather I often had to turn the AC temp up a bit because it'd get too cold. Sounds like a definite defect and I'm sure they'll fix it if you take it in.
