Does anyone know where I can get one to install?
[/quote]Text Just ordered 03 3500 srw laramie HO with 48re tranny and the dealer told me to order the light package which includes underhood light, glovebox light, and ashtray light. Hope this helps anyone ordering in the near future.

Re:Underhood Lamp
DC found that the lights formerly used underhood in their trucks were too noisy, and eliminated them as to not offend owners buying the '03's primarily for their quietness...
Eventually, they located quieter underhood lights, and now offer them as a package at additional cost...

It's my pot and I'll stir it if I want to. If you're not careful, I'll stir your's as well!

Re:Underhood Lamp
Have driven over a million miles (no kidding!) in all kinds of conditions and in vehicles of both good and bad mechanical condition. Have never yet needed an underhood light. The vehicles I have owned that have had them did no good as they light did not shine where needed anyway. Nothing beats a good flashlight. Change the batteries on your birthday. I keep a small flashlight in the glove box. Used to keep a magnetic flashlight but never ever used it. Get a flashlight with a halogen bulb.
When you are working on your vehicle for an extended period of time, (bombing etc) it will probably be during the day. You will remove the bulb anyway to stop the battery running down. At that time you will also burn your fingeres on the hot bulb because you forgot to take it out when you started to work.
By the way, did I tell you that I think the underhood light is a waste of time.

Re:Underhood Lamp
I "bombed" the one in my truck - converted to a much more powerful type that functions more as a floodlight, so that when I travel with my Ford driving RV buddy and he breaks down at night, I can raise my hood and we'll have enough light to work on his truck...
