My new 2003 SLT Regular Cab with CTD does not have any underhood insulation. Did the factory forget to install it or is it designed that way?

It no longer is included. I think it is just another cost cutting measure by DC like no rear wheel well liners, under hood light, lights in visor mirrors, light in ashtray and the list goes on.

There may be more but that is all I can think of at the moment. DC deleted the halo light on the 01.5s. Mine had the halo but no light, which had the service department scratching their heads.
Re:Underhood Insulation
Carpet on the SLT door panels where your feet would kick. My 02 SLT 1500 had it and now my 03 Dually is only plastic. Personally I thought the hood light was point less it could'nt light up anything it was so small. Reguardless of the cuts I still love the truck.

Re:Underhood Insulation
Maybe Dodge eliminated the insulation to help with underhood tempatures. The 03's have a smaller "engine room" than the 2nd gens so the insulation elimination theory might help keep it a tad cooler under the hood. Plus like drafter said the 03 is pretty quite anyway.

mine too doesn't have the underhood insulation, but it does have an ashtray light and glove box light. No underhood light... :'(I wonder why mine has the tray/box light and others do not ???
