undercoating?

undercoating?
I just bought a 04, 4 door, 4x4 HO. While under the truck checking everything out I noticed "0" undercoating. Does Dodge not use it for some reason? Should I undercoat it?
I would assume that it might make it even quieter and jsut seal everything up.
Thanks for the advice in advance.

Re:undercoating?
When I bought my the dealer offered a "paint protection". The put a sealer on the paint, put rust proofing stuff on the door jams and fender wells, and also under coated it. It also came with extended DC paint warranty. I purchased it because I think it helps with sound deadening. I like the stuff.

I wouldn't undercoat unless you think it's going to be a problem. I have used Permatex rubberized undercoating with good results. I had to undercoat the frame on my Chevy pickup because they use a wax coating, which only last for a few years.

It's my pot and I'll stir it if I want to. If you're not careful, I'll stir your's as well!
Re:undercoating?
IMHO and experience undercoating causes more problems that it supposedly stops. Have found that a good quality rustproofing oil is far superior. The type that creeps up and seemingly defies gravity.

The dealer add-on is in many cases a rip off. They charge you hundreds of dollars for $10 worth of work and supplies. It has traditionally been a great cash cow for years. Stay away from dealers that add it to every vehicle that they sell.
